Description This was sketch is for Zekehimberry95 who wanted his characters to be wearing leather. Hard cold leather that is. XD
I like how this came out though, and rather them wearing the same type of leather (material), I decided to change it up a bit. Gave one of them goggles even. Enjoy.
Was part of my April Fool's art sale.

Hello ! I'm from ProjectComment

The pose of the characters is what most attracts me because it gives a feeling of glamour and feminism with good results. I imagine that was what you wanted to transmit, in addition to a certain tenderness applied to the smile of the characters

I will divide the comment into several parts:

Volume, shadows, lights, reflections, occlusion
I like how you put the shadows, although I see that they are stronger in the clothes than in the skin, I would have equaled them a little more. I also think that more shadows are needed in the noses to prevent them from looking flat.
In the suit on the left I see thin light reflections, but I don't see them on the one on the right... not the same clothes material?
As for the brightness, I would make them stronger to stand out, especially in the clothes. However, in the glasses I think that everything is very marked, perhaps making it more subtle would give better results.
Speaking of occlusion, you could add a slight light of reflection in the contours area to include them more in the environment of some background, although being a sketch, I understand that this should be done in more advanced stages of the drawing.

Composition
I like how you have placed the characters in front of each other, because it forces the viewer to compare them, which is surely the idea you had because they are similar but different...

Colors and saturation
I like the colors you have applied, how they combine with each other and even the slight desaturation they have, I think it gives an additional touch of realism. However I see that for example the character on the left has the nails painted but the one on the right does not. I don't know if that is a mistake or is made on purpose

Proportions, anatomy, symmetry
I like almost all parts of the body, especially those legs so chubby ... maybe the arms and chest should be more chubby too.
It also seems that the fingers of the character on the right are somewhat strange, perhaps because of the perspective in which they are seen or because in the sketch you have not added many details.

On the other hand, in the rear horn on the head, it looks a bit flat and too close to the front horns. Perhaps you should make it bigger in vertical axis or apply some other detail to compensate.

Good luck and keep going !

From ProjectComment

I'm always quite impressed by your ability to show colors even in a rougher sketch like this. I like the general palette you went for and you did a nice job in laying down the general forms. Although I will echo the other commenter's point about the leather folds not really lining up properly, but I'll not dwell on that for too long. Personally, while I like the general shading you put down and the sheen you put on the leather garments, I think making the highlights a bit brighter would add a lot to this piece. The shading communicates the leather pretty well, but I think by allowing for more contrast you can add more dimension to it and make it pop a bit more.

While I'm unfamiliar with this particular species, I'll gamble a comment about the anatomy. In general the necks of these characters look a bit thin compared to the size of their heads and the general sense of realism in your style. In the same vein, the hands feel a bit small as well. Their torsos especially feel rather flat, even though one of the characters sports a generous amount of cleavage. Perhaps look into some torso/breast drawing tutorials, getting the form down in these areas is very important for the 3-dimensionality of your characters and drawing as a whole.

I quite like how you designed the outfits and made them similar, but also distinct from one another. You added a nice amount of small details that do not distract from the general focus of the image, but add to the feel of their clothes. The goggles, choker and ribbon also add to this effect and make the outfits come together nicely.

Definitely a nice piece to look at. Unfortunately it's a bit rough, but that's why it's a sketch instead of a full image. It shows off your general knowledge of color and shading; though I will advice you to look a bit more into general anatomy and making sure your clothes follow the anatomy to make your figures and drawings more believable. Keep on being awesome!

I like the idea of having different colored leathers, it's certainly brilliant! Especially having chosen leather colors that most compliment the character's color schemes, the left one's more calm, soothing, and cooler shades of blue and green and the right one's fiercer and aggressive reds and oranges. Even their facial expressions compliment their color palettes, its amazing.

I understand that these are rushy sketches, but I have some nitpicks. First, the green character's right arm folds shouldn't be line streaks going down, it should be sideways, as that's how the material flows. Leather is a thick material that it always has folds and creases that squish the material. Same goes to the black leather, her sleeves should have more creases, especially near the armpits and the place opposite of her elbows. The material's texturing is well don't though, leather has a high contrast and is easily reflective so, well done on that.

Forgive me for my limited knowledge, but what animals are they supposed to be..? Axolotls? Or perhaps they're a unique species?

I hope I was of any help!~

THanks for the comment, especially on leather folds.
They're  a unique species made up by the commissioner. You can ask Zekehimberry95 about them if you're interested.
