This excellent!
I like seeing the original commission and then the effects that they layer on top of it.
Beautiful work, doubleleaf. <3

The blue energy seems to be flowing from the body to the tree, It's meant to be the opposite right?

ORiGO-GAMES In reply to YoyoFang [2013-02-19 21:39:57 +0000 UTC]

Instead of healing she is removing the near death experience and passing it to the tree. Life for life.

It's amazing what kind of change a few effects can have over the atmoshpere of a piece. I suck at effects, though.

The purpose of the piece is to show the cost of power. To give life one must take life. The piece is amazing period and Doubleleaf did all the hard work, the original piece blew me away.

SoloZerker In reply to spikemugen [2013-02-18 23:32:13 +0000 UTC]

But equivalent exchange doesn't work...? .0.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

battlebrothertherix In reply to SoloZerker [2013-02-19 18:42:05 +0000 UTC]

It does in theory.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SoloZerker In reply to battlebrothertherix [2013-02-19 20:08:45 +0000 UTC]

In theory. ... But a secondary idea seems to be the more plausilbe. To gain something, you'd need more to equal a smaller value. ... But turn it around, and less is more. .3. .... That would be a great philosophy. Especially for alchemy.

But I'm sure Embrace of Time doesn't deal with Alchemy, and if it does... probably not much. Darn laws are too confusing and have a lot of loopholes...

I like the modified version more, its more clear as to what is happening, and all the extra contrast makes it much more pleasing to look at. The original just looks unfinished.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

arisutan In reply to RachelFrasier [2013-02-19 00:37:02 +0000 UTC]

kinda rude!

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Samirakate In reply to arisutan [2013-02-19 19:45:37 +0000 UTC]

That wasn't rude at all. It was an opinion. I personally like the modified version more as well. I'm assuming that they knew it would be modified when it was commissioned, hence the reason why there is so much empty space in the background, so yes, it does look unfinished. She never said that the original wasn't good, just that the modifications make it better.

arisutan In reply to Samirakate [2013-02-19 22:59:11 +0000 UTC]

Calling someone's hard work "unfinished" is very rude! I would be very upset if someone said that about my work!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Samirakate In reply to arisutan [2013-02-20 02:46:45 +0000 UTC]

Well I wouldn't be at all. I would love to know if someone thought my work looked unfinished. I could then either ask them what the thought it needed or simply look at it myself and try to make it look better.
You can't grow as an artist if you're unopened to negative opinions.

arisutan In reply to Samirakate [2013-02-20 10:50:24 +0000 UTC]

There's a different between helpful/constructive critique and opinions and just being rude.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Samirakate In reply to arisutan [2013-02-21 04:00:51 +0000 UTC]

Well my honest opinion is that if you're not mature enough to be able to take criticisms or comments that you don't agree with a grain of salt than you shouldn't be posting your art on the internet. We need to just agree that our opinions as to what an insulting comment is differs.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

RachelFrasier In reply to arisutan [2013-02-19 03:14:36 +0000 UTC]

How was it rude? It was just a critic.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

arisutan In reply to RachelFrasier [2013-02-19 23:02:30 +0000 UTC]

That was not a *critique. calling someone's hard work "unfinished" is just unkind and rude! think about what you say before you say something. How would you feel if someone said that to you..? I know I would be upset.

To not be able to take criticism in stride, is a sign that you need to grow up.
