What Red Hood is doing there, is much like something Deadpool would do.

it's not the costume... comic kory has always been sexually liberated... but she never had sex just because she could do it.... her whole personality has changed, she was more like a sex bomb who didn't know how awkward her behavior made everyone... pre flashpoint kory was very passionate... a little too passionate by earth's standard, now she's plain slutty... and they actually made jason todd likable in some way which was weird too... not liking the reboot

Of people actually paid attention to the actual series, most tamaranians were very skin showy, unless they were in uniform or like Blackfire, covered herself because she had the disease were she couldn't absorb radiation that made her fly.
And Starfire's always been revealing. Teen Titans animated series was made for 6-11 years, the original comics were made for teens+.
If someone's really surprised at her outfit, then you obviously haven't paid much attention to her before.

I think some of the surprise was literally just the level of revealing that the outfit did. This costume is pretty much pasties and panties. The outfit Kory initially is in is still pretty risque, but yeah, between the new costume and the fact half of her characterization seems to have come down to 'has sex with whoever I feel like with no emotional attachments' it's not a terribly positive thing. There is a positive way of having a sexually liberated character and Kory seems more like a caricature than anything else.

But if it were another character that had "slutted" themselves around, it would seem okay, such as many male characters. Deathstroke has slept with many girls, half his age, for no emotional attachment, but it's okay with him because males are a dominance on society? Also, look at Starfire.
She was enslaved and a tool for sex. People are sexually abused, don't treat sexual encounters as sacred as some do. Just as many sexually attacked people also. It deems them to feel all their worth is sex. For her, sex doesn't have emotion behind it, because there was no heartfelt emotion towards her when she was raped multiple times.
As for her character, she has deemed to be quite entertaining and HELPFUL to this team. Saving their(Arsenal and Red Hoods) lives countless times.
Also, Starfire's original design(80's) was based off the concept of a stripper. She has always been showy. Her new attitude really is showing the real effects of what she's been through. And obviously she's shown to not care about much anymore, so why care if she shows tons of cleavage or not?
I enjoy this character so much more than the naive alien that was first made. It shows her past is something she can't hide and change and it strengthens her and truly gives her an emotional side that characters can actually start to know.
She had sex with one character(Arsenal) once, and people are freaking out about it, but i wonder how many male characters have been promiscuous and have been deemed as cool for it for their emotionless encounters. And not everyone treats sex as a sacred thing. Some, it's trivial, especially for someone who was enslaved and pimped out by her sister.

"Sexually liberated" does not explain the costume. She wants to have no strings attached sex for fun? Fine by me. There is still no excuse to have her engage in combat in a costume that would have to defy the laws of physics to stay on even if she held perfectly still. In a real fight that outfit would last five seconds. Now, she could kick ass naked, but if she is going to bother with clothes she would wear clothes that are functional and sexy (she is Starfire after all). This isn't a matter sexual liberation, this is DC giving themselves a crutch by degrading a great female character so male readers will buy the comic for the sexiness (which is very insulting to the intelligence of their male audience, especially since most of them find Catwoman, Lara Croft, and/or Black Widow hot) while alienating female readers. All women who like comics, we learn have to put with sexist portrayals of our gender if we intend to keep buying and enjoying comics. I've put up with a lot. I tolerated her last costume after all.
I'm just sad I've basically had to swear off DC and Marvel because they suck now (not because of costumes though, just lots of bad writing, and the idiotic directions the executives keep dragging the Marvel Universe).
It's sad when the Indy stuff is often better done than the mainstream stuff. Comic readers may want to consider checking out the webcomics THE ZOMBIE HUNTERS (The Walking Dead wishes they were this awesome), DEMON HUNTER KAIN (modern urban fantasy/horror could take a few cues from this guy), and DERELICT (because zombie apocalypses just weren't creative enough for this guy). There are also the FREAK ANGELS (written by Warren Ellis, who thought an apocalypse with flooding and psychics might be fun) and CRIMSON DARK (if Star Wars and Firefly gave birth to a comic, this is what you'd get. Later chapters have absolutely stunning art). All of these can be read online for free, just google the name and comic.

I didn't like 52's Starfire's lack of attachment, but I felt like the criticisms were overblown (especially the way people were throwing around the words "slut" and "whore")... but I couldn't put my finger on why I felt like that. Your comment brings forth what I was unconsciously thinking! Thank you!

As always with this series I find myself having to seperate the comments on the comic from the art.
The art - solid work. Something looks a bit 'off" on Speedy. It may be just the angle but it looks like his arms are of differnet lengths, even allowing for the perspective.
As for the book, I've found it completely unreadable. The characters as portrayed, even worse. I definately agree with the Rated T - for Terrible.
