Description Finally done!

Another 11th Doctor. I've been trying to get a drawing of him that I liked. You might have seen, but I've got a few other sketches of him in my gallery. Every time I draw him he seems to come out different.

I've been tinkering with this one for a little bit. I had little dilemmas to sort out with this. I went through a bunch of different sonic effects, how to do the TARDIS interior and lots of shading issues, what worked and what didn't work. But I've finally got it to where I'm satisfied with it .... I think.

Lol! We'll have to figure out a way to do that, as that would be pretty cool. It seems like you are hinting at something... "feels like I'm missing something. It's staring me in the face... don't worry, I'll get it."

rory! and yes... i'm pretty much going to hint nonstop. martha jones was and will always be my favorite companion. and if you ever do a martha jones themed sketch, i will buy you a drink! mostly because we eventually need to geek out in person at some point soon. and it's been too long since i've seen evie, so i might just kidnap you both one day soon...

Yes, Evie told me of your love of Martha. I agree, she is my favorite of the 9/10 era (I was never that big on Rose), but I do like Amy and Rory. What if I do like, 7 sketches? Does that equal 7 drinks? Will the bartender accept sketches? That's a better question! Yes! Geeking out with others is always more preferable than geeking out alone! We will have to have a "Who-day" ...or... something... named better. I understand you have a lot of confidentials to catch up with...

i do have a lot of confidentials to catch up on...

and in my book, 7 sketches totally equal 7 drinks. i do like amy pond as well. rory i like, but i love martha and amy. so wait... if i beg, like a lot, and buy you a drink and draw you a tardis (which, heads up, will be terrible because i'm not an artist by any stretch of the imagination, well, other than the writing type) would you be willing to, in like a year, cartoon me with a steampunk theme? because i would seriously pay you for that (no joke, i need to revamp the upstairs and it would be really cool to have an actual artist do a cool sketch.)

more importantly, we definitely need to schedule a who confidential catchup and a "i owe doug and evie alcohol because they are single-handedly helping me retain my sanity" date. you guys pick the time and place!

Hmmmm. Sounds like a challenge...never done "steampunk" before. The "begging" part sounds nice too, and you're definitely drawing me a Tardis now. You're a writer, you say? What kind of stuff do you write? Are you going to post anything on DA? I may have to pick your brain on a few things...

I'll have to run it by Ev and see what her schedule is like.

well if you want your eyes to bleed, i have no qualms whatsoever subjecting you to my "rendition" of a tardis. it'll probably be on a bar napkin, i feel like that might lend it some ... alcohol street cred and hopefully will make it seem more "badass" and less "pathetic."

in terms of my writing... i started writing in 2nd grade (horrible poetry, but my teacher really encouraged me which went a long way in terms of my keeping with it.) from the silly stuff i started with, i branched out into narrative prose, which then sort of turned into monologues and short stories. my high school senior project was on AIDS/HIV awareness (it's always been something i've been passionate about.) basically i interviewed a number of HIV/AIDS positive patients, taped the interviews and turned the stories into monologues which i wrote up and read for my final.

from there, i sort of became known as a writer, so if a friend had a random project they needed help with/a gap filled in their play etc, i would just sort of play with it until i was happy with the result. i did a musical in college as a collaborative project with a friend. so since then, i've just sort of tried my hand with a little bit of everything. and now, i'm seriously pursuing getting published, so i'm taking your sister's advice and writing for an hour every day (well, i just started that... i have some health problems with generally makes getting things done difficult.) so now, i'm trying my hand at a murder mystery which will hopefully lead to a series. but i have to write it first.

i did finish a children's story, but i didn't have any illustrations to go with it, and i didn't love the idea of being paired with a random person through a publisher. so i'm still trying to figure out what to do with that...

so yeah, i'm not sure if i would post my work here because it's generally long. but if you're interested, i can send you some random bits if you'd like to see the style i write in.

and if you need anyone to write stuff for your work, let me know! so pick away, my brain is open

Bloody eyes? You should see some of my early Tardis drawings. Not good. Use whatever you need to "motivate" you.

So, we are both kind of in the same boat... trying to figure out what to do with our talent. Evie gave you some good advice. Sorry to hear that there is a health condition that makes it harder, but it does help to keep at it and do it consistently. There was a long period of time when I wasn't drawing and it made it hard to start up again. But, yes, I would love to take a look at some of your writings if you are willing to share. You are being so supportive of my work, it's only fair I return that support. We creative types have to stick together. Maybe we can take a look at that children's book of yours too...? Maybe I'll send you some of my feeble attempts at writing, lol!

that sounds like a great plan! and yeah, the health stuff is always challenging, but i think to be a good person, you have to have a bit of adversary. i think pain leads to compassion (i'm using the term "pain" in the broadest sense possible.) if nothing else, it leads to some pretty good stories. i can't remember who it was... i want to say isak dinesen, but don't quote me on this, but he wrote a beautiful quote "all sorrows can be borne if we put them into a story, or tell a story about them." i think it holds true.

and i'd love to share my work with you. do you have an email i should send it to?

and i'd LOVE to read some of your writing! i love to see how other people tell stories and how it ends up manifesting.

Hee, how wonderful. I'm impressed by how much of his personality you've managed to communicate with his pose and proportions, very witty and well done.
