My mother introduced us to bottle digging about 48-49 years ago behind this place bit.ly/1rs5TGF in a small town where I spent my childhood till I was 18 years old called Hope Valley,RI. What a beautiful hobby, digging, finding something, checking out new places. There were a lot of bottle dumps in that town. It is an old town, about 244 years old. An old mill town. It has a lot of good fishing holes too. Most of the bottles pictured here look about from the late 1800's. I could tell better If I could examine the seam of the bottle and other factors.

I thank you for your insight about the time period of the bottles in my photograph - I never got into
that aspect of bottle collecting - I just like the aesthetic aspects of the bottle ( it's like classic cars from the 50's - I love their forms - but know litle about
their histories or horsepower, etc ) --- I gave away most of those bottles , save the flask , when I moved several times - but I am starting up a new collection
--- by the way - doesn't mean anything - but you are the first person on DA that I have seen - that has no deviations posted - no favs - no comments received --and no avatar !
........ nothing wrong with that - just kind of unusual --- but thanks for your interest !

I like everything I see on Deviant. I am just a lurker and I snag picxs that interest me. I think avatar is paid subscription??

DouglasHumphries In reply to reflectionofpower [2014-08-23 22:20:14 +0000 UTC]

....no - you can put up an avatar without a paid subscription ( unless they changed it )
. . . but if you did it --- it would erase your continued anonymity !

'The coffin. Drowned Queequeg's coffin was my life buoy. For one whole day and night , it sustained me on that soft and dirge-like main. Then, a sail appeared; It was the Rachel. The Rachel who in her long melancholy search for her missing children found... another orphan. The drama's done. All are departed away. The great shroud of the sea rolls over the Pequod, her crew, and Moby Dick. I only am escaped... alone, to tell thee. '
