For 's request. Sorry it took so long.
I was thinking about what it must have been like for Snape on his first day on the job at Hogwarts. In this drawing, he's on his way to the Potions classroom in the dungeons. Was he paranoid of Voldemort and the Death Eaters attacking him for his betrayal? Was he wondering if he'd made the right decision joining up with Dumbledore? Was he pissed that he wasn't allowed the DADA position? Hopefully I was able to express the jumbled up feelings he must have had that day.

Thank you! I wanted to do a bit more dramatic lighting since the majority of the picture is so dark/blue. I thought that the backlighting made it more interesting.

Thank you so much! I'm trying to get better at backgrounds. I always seem to struggle with them and how they should relate to whatever the subject of the drawing/painting/etc. is. I don't like the background to be too distracting, but a lot of my pieces look very bland without backgrounds.

Right! If you want to make dominant background, you need to be very good at drawing them, otherwise the can destroy the whole harmony of a picture. I usually just use a gradient with two colors because my favourite thing to draw are expressions and I don't feel like spending a lot of time for a background. But when I see such a great staircase... I think that I could spend a bit more time with backgrounds as well

That's pretty good. It really does look like his first day; you don't see the embitterment of 11 years of whatever that we all saw in the first book.
