The left glove of the white swan ends in the background without the arm connection.

No, it looks darker because of the shadow cast onto the arm by the head.

Must be a bloody dark shadow.

It's because it's where the shadow is falling onto the white glove on the arm. Since the glove is white, the shadow is the same color as the dark background behind it, which makes it a little difficult to see.
