Description In the vein of [link]

So far no one has claimed responsiblity or blame for this monstrosity. Seemingly part fish (although they have no gills), part wyvern, and part bat.

These voracious eaters of flesh only take a bite sized chunk of their prey, but they swarm in masses up to a thousand or more. They have even been know to reduce a young dragon to scale and bones in minutes.

Like sharks they are attracted to freshly-spilled blood, alliances have been forged in battle, bitter enemies standing back-to-back when these creatures swarm the field of battle.

Only heavy armor, warding spells and flames can repell them and sometimes they can get through those by sheer numbers or slyness.

Truely a nasty creature.

A bit more malevolent that Thumpers. Not something I'd want to run into.

sheer numbers can some times press their way through, sure a few dozen would be squashed to death btu that would just give them apitizers.

So... Moral of the story is to not be alone when Piranha-Bats are around, if anywhere near them?

Um, you do know that piranna a primeraly vegetarians, who only eat meat if plant matter is scarce right?

It also depends on the species of Piranha some are carnivor/scavangers other eat seeds and plant matter most of the time.

As for bats insectivores count as carnivores, and fictional giant bats would go for small game.

Immaterial to the Pirannabat they are purely carnivorous.

I guess they must get that from the Wyvern part, since there is no such thing as a purly carnivorous bat either.

Depends on wether it is a fantasy world Giant bat or a Terran Puny Vampire bat. ;รพ

Vampire bats aren't carnivorous either. They are parasitic.

The comparason is mostly to the Fantasy Giant Bat, note I said PUNY in ref to the vampire bat meaning that I was using it for a basline for terran bats in general not as a comparason to the Pirranabat.

They remind me of the critters they used in Gears of War. Only attacked if there was no UV light anywhere, or if it was just dark. Attacked friend and foe alike. Kryl I think.
