Concept picture 00 for for my brother's game titled 'Black Silhouette.'Original drawings by my brother can be found here .
This is to rally anyone who is interested in doing fanart or voice/sound talents for his game, and can use the pictures in this series for reference.

Characters depicted from top to bottom are: Yoru, Riku, and Takeda.

I tried to practice some hatching and black/white balance with this series. Trying out some new pens and such, heheh.
My brother requested that I try and color in a spontaneous way, kind of like Yoji Shinkawa (the artist of the 'Metal Gear Solid' and 'Zone of the Enders' series), so I tried it somewhat with the coloring of Yoru. But I was too tense when coloring that portion, and I didn't have a tablet...
With that, my brother decided it would take me too long. So for the rest of the picture and series I just layed down a bunch of simple colors instead, and downplayed any shading at all to emphasize my focus on line quality. However, I did apply some minimal highlights.

You ever played Oni? Some of those ninjas reminds me of the enemies that game. They had similar night goggles.

I really like Yoru's mask design. Those red circles are pretty creepy... but at the same time they remind me of C3PO from Star Wars. ='D I know, I know.. Very weird.
Riku is probably my favorite one of all these three ninjas here. Her deep blue eyes and hair are just gorgeous! Her expression's very gentle, no matter how you look at it.
Takeda on the other hand... I think I would like him more if he didn't have that kind of hair. His hair really bothers me. But then again, I am the kind of person who gets bothered by the weirdest of things... How bothersome. But! His mask design is the most interesting one, in my opinion.

Takeda's hair was the part I was most unsure about, heheh. I kept asking my brother what exactly is his hair style like, but the more he explained it, the less I could comprehend... I tried making that portion as realistic to my knowledge as I could, but to no avail, I guess.

Thanx (^-^)! Yea, these are actually my brothers own designs, though I did do a little tweaking in between to make sense of them. Amazingly enough, this is probably the best co-op my brother and I have done in a while, though it is mainly all his ideas. I'm just there to help him out some. We rarely ever work well together when it comes to cooperative projects... Too many conflicting veiwepoints...
As for the free part, I'm just in it for the practice. I don't really need to get paid, especially for a non-profit project, heheh.

uh, yeah, know what you mean by looking for Yoji shinkawa color pattern, it's a lot war-like and futuristic at same time, only time I tryed it my mech came a lot like Jehuty from zoe 2, cuz no other color pattern seemed o fit...

Yea, heheh. Kinda hard to try and make a similar style fit, yet not copy it exactly--if that made any sense. I guess I have more experimenting and practicing to do before I find a kind of style or techincal scheme to work for me.
