this is a really good tutorial its a lot easier to understand than some of the other ones i've found.
now i just need some lineart to color cause i can't draw so i'll just play with yours.
btw does this tutorial with GIMP that's all i have?

draa In reply to InuyashaRules6596 [2013-01-08 23:15:02 +0000 UTC]

Hmm I've never used GIMP but I've heard about it.
The tools I used were pretty standard, so I think it should apply the same way?

To do that you used PaintToolSAI?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

draa In reply to TohGuardaUnCannolo [2012-08-21 05:25:17 +0000 UTC]

To draw the lineart yes, but I coloured it in Photoshop. However both programs have the same basic tools you can probably get SAI to do the exact same after figuring out where and how everything works.

Hmm well that looks like the one I use? And I know that my version is also translated improperly haha; I use the "brush" tool to draw my lineart

You can breathe in at least three different ways so I guess not even that has a one and only way to be done.

Hello,

I think this tutorial is amazing, but I'm not just saying that because it looks pretty. I've tried a few tutorials to help me for colouring, but I never found one that actually proved helpful. However, once I had a go at yours the result turned out pretty good!

Here: [link] This is where I had a go at your amazing artwork.

Keep up the great artwork and tutorials. They're magnificent.

Thank you for the sweet reply! I'm really glad that it helped even just a little. It's hard making tutorials not only because it's a matter of time, but to narrow it down to easy stepping stones for people to follow and understand. It's especially harder when everyone thinks a different way

You did a great job! Keep up the good work

Very helpful <3

I have one questionnnn - with the skin tone pallet thing, the first square in the sets is just white, so how could that be a base? Or am I misunderstanding something here? ;n;

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

draa In reply to YoshiHikikomori [2010-06-04 21:52:42 +0000 UTC]

Hello~

I'm glad its helpful
Actually its not white, if you used a colour picker you'll see that it's off white with slight hue of yellow/peach.

Theres often a misconception that skin tone has to be skin tone when you pick it. However the colours you use around it make a big difference, as you can see when you use that darker skin colour as shade the base no longer looks white.

YoshiHikikomori In reply to draa [2010-06-04 21:56:20 +0000 UTC]

I see it <3

It's true what you say, a skin colour can be any light colour, depending on the surroundings. Even green <3
