Description
Two dragons were searching the forests for an uncommon healing herb known as Messedrak. Leading the search was Emerald, a talented alchemist and healer with glittering scales to match her namesake. Her mate, Whirlwind, accompanied her as both a second pair of eyes and a worthy escort; a nimble fighter as azure as the clear skies above them. Despite their efforts, they had been looking for close to two hours now, with no results.

“Not a single one…” Emerald commented, a hint of frustration present in her voice as she peered through a gap in the foliage only to find plain grass on the other side. “Messedrak isn’t that rare, and this place is so remote, too… are the growing conditions simply not right here?”

“I wish I knew, but… you’re the green thumb here.” He replied. “I only have blue, heh.”

“Gods.” Emerald groaned as the unexpected quip hit her like a bolt of lightning, causing her to stop, close her eyes, and tilt her head to the sky. “Well done. That was truly awful.”

Whirlwind laughed at Emerald’s reaction, before putting his claw on her shoulder. “Sorry, not sorry. But hey, don’t get discouraged, Vira. We’ll find some, even if we have to fly somewhere else in the end.”

Emerald smiled, lowering her head. “Thanks, Sin. I feel a lot better with you here. Even if you do crack the worst jokes.”

The pair eventually entered a small clearing in the forest, where they split up to search. While Whirlwind was unable to find anything on his end, he did spot something that stood out among the surrounding greenery: a small patch of bright red wild roses. The sight caused him to crack a smile as a silly idea entered his mind.

“Ah, I’m such a hopeless romantic.” He thought to himself.

While Emerald was still focused on searching on the other side of the clearing, Whirlwind picked out the biggest rose he could find, cut it free with a flick of a silver talon, and carefully placed it in his jaws. With the rose secure, he approached his mate, tilted his head, and innocently inquired: “Is this the plant you’re looking for?”

“Ahh, you found one?” Emerald responded, excitedly raising her head. When her eyes fell on the rose, she blinked, her excitement quickly changing to amusement as she realised. “Wait, that’s…”

Emerald stopped herself before she could state the obvious, a quiet chuckle escaping her maw. “You’re full of romantic clichés, aren’t you?”

“You love it really!” Whirlwind retorted, knowingly.

She shook her head, a gentle smile still crossing her muzzle. “Hehe… maybe a little.”

“Try saying that without blushing.” Whirlwind winked.

Emerald playfully batted his foreleg with her claw, before letting out a sigh of defeat. “Fiiine, you got me.” She admitted. “Yes, it’s silly and cliché, but… it still makes my heart sing.”

With that, she raised her claw, gratefully taking the rose from his mouth.

“Arateskas, mis amai.”
(“Thank you, my love.”)

Happy Valentine's Day! While I was uploading the most up-to-date version of my first comic here, I also decided to render out another of my favourite panels as a standalone render, specifically the third panel of Page 24. I also thought I'd give it a bit more context with a short description... which ended up as the wall of text you see above. 😆
