Description ~~ Older pic recently retouched in an image editor for a little more lighting depth. Nothing professional of course, just boredom. ~~

Telsei Warhammer, attempting to squeeze into an elven-made bikini while on a little bit of a vacation. Unfortunately, the elves don't really seem to have dwarves in mind when they fashion their beachwear...

I think they in fact had dwarven in mind when they designed this... i mean.... those on an elf? They would cover them up entirely. On a dwarf these give us a well insight!

Well I'm sure most elves are fairly conservative with how much skin they'd want to show. Got that "high society" mentality usually. haha But when you're stuck with only elven swimsuits for a dwarf to choose from, what can ya do? Just pack it all in. lol

Maybe with a more confortable bikini would even stay better

DracoInsanity In reply to LadyBelva [2015-06-19 00:32:09 +0000 UTC]

haha Yeah it's probably not the most comfortable thing for her to be wearing, though I think it'd be a common occurrence with her in a lot of places. Not many races other than dwarves make clothing in dwarven sizes, so shopping in foreign lands would be a tad more difficult for her than for a more common human or elven traveler. Let's just say she's used to it, and does her best to make due.

Well, with these bikinis made from four triangles and some pieces of rope it is only the question how long you make the ropes to fit all sizes adequately. An I definitely prefer this size over elvish sizes

As do I. One thing that bothers me is how elves are almost always portrayed as the beautiful, sexy characters in fantasy worlds, and they always follow the tall, slender look. Personally, I prefer a shorter, curvier woman any day.

I think its hot wen women sometimes where bras smaller than actual breast. It makes them look just as appealing as before.

DracoInsanity In reply to dAKx2evATE-itLyfe [2012-12-07 01:11:40 +0000 UTC]

Haha Yeah I agree. Like when skinny women with small chests wear corsets or bustiers and it makes them look like they actually do have decent sized breasts. Propping them up can make them look appealing in a sense, but when they're perked up by themselves (fake boobs), I'm not a huge fan at all.

dAKx2evATE-itLyfe In reply to DracoInsanity [2012-12-07 01:19:35 +0000 UTC]

I agree with you. I mean some women may not have big boobs like some and they think getting fake boobs will make it more appeal, but all the while your boobs just went for something touchable to something that is only good to look at if you don't know they fake. What are boobs with no bounce. Might as well be flat chested because you just ruined yourself in my opinion.

DracoInsanity In reply to dAKx2evATE-itLyfe [2012-12-07 01:40:47 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, big is a bonus (for me anyway haha), but I'd rather have smaller and real than bigger and fake. There's nothing natural about breasts that defy gravity and stay up on their own. Plus, like you said, with no bounce, they aren't as fun.

dAKx2evATE-itLyfe In reply to DracoInsanity [2012-12-07 01:46:05 +0000 UTC]

Lol. I know right. If a woman has big bosoms that is a plus in my book. If she doesn't there is no need to go thinking no one will like you because your chest don't amount to other. In an overall opinion people should try to find beauty within themselves rather than through others.

Calling all sexy and confident ladies - this is the most daring micro bikini we make!! The gold/black mesh is see through and this is one of our very special occasion bikinis

DracoInsanity In reply to Intellectual-Soldier [2012-08-01 21:08:48 +0000 UTC]

Haha It generally wouldn't look QUITE as micro on a human or an elf, as per its original design. Fitting a dwarf into it, however, isn't that easy, but not necessarily a bad idea.

Yeah one part of me agrees. I could do my characters a lot more justice if I actually took the time and effort to try some professional courses, but I honestly don't have the time or the patience most of the time. lol I like it as a casual hobby, but I don't really have the mentality to take it very seriously. Maybe some day it'll spark up in me! haha

Haha I appreciate the vote of confidence XD I'm sure once I'm finished with school and have a more casual (yet lucrative) career I'll probably have more energy to put into it. Working in kitchens for the passed 7 years has really taken a toll on my patience levels lol. I do miss the days I used to spend in grade- and secondary-school, spending all my time drawing when I was supposed to be doing schoolwork.

WelderFace In reply to DracoInsanity [2012-06-18 18:43:15 +0000 UTC]

Oh most certainly. Dwarf girls have the bestest curves though

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DracoInsanity In reply to WelderFace [2012-06-18 19:47:53 +0000 UTC]

Haha Yeah. Hardest part is making it LOOK more or less like a dwarf, rather than simply a curvy woman. Have to try and make everything around her seem taller/larger than it would be to a typical human or elf. Not by much mind you, but height is one key part of separating them from the other races.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WelderFace In reply to DracoInsanity [2012-06-18 19:57:39 +0000 UTC]

Definitely; I find that altering the anatomy helps mostly, since Dwarves are often represented as being wider and not quite true to 'normal human' anatomy, you know, broader arms, stouter legs.

Bah, they're just fun as hell to draw

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DracoInsanity In reply to WelderFace [2012-06-18 20:24:25 +0000 UTC]

Yeah lol I try to keep her legs and arms fairly chubby and shorter than typical humans would have, as well as her typical layer of 'chub' all over. A few things I tend to stray from compared to most other dwarf artists though is the idea of them being overly muscular or disproportionate to the point of losing the hourglass figure (for Telsei anyway). Just personal preference though there. I also only occasionally throw in a braided hairstyle or two, because a vast majority of them seem to have it. It's a good way to solidify the dwarven look, since it seems tradition in a sense for their hair to be at least partially braided, but the character herself prefers the loose styles more often than not.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WelderFace In reply to DracoInsanity [2012-06-18 20:28:05 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, braids seem to be especially prevalent, I also personally like to throw in a bit more body hair, too, I just think it seems to fit.

I'm not one for the overly muscled thing either; I prefer to think that dwarves have pretty efficient, compact muscles underneath all that cuddlyness XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DracoInsanity In reply to WelderFace [2012-06-18 20:35:58 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, she's still a dwarf where it counts. More sturdy, durable, and strong than a typical human or elven woman, but it's hidden under her natural padding. haha She's also a more rogue-like character than a generic dwarven warrior, so she has a decent amount of dexterity and nimbleness to her as well. Slightly more acrobatic and maneuverable than most dwarves are supposed to be.

I've also been asked about the lack of body hair before as well, and that's just another personal preference lol I don't think it takes away from her as a character not having it. No one could mistake her for a child either way considering her other assets. XD She's not your stereotypical dwarf by any means, but dwarven nonetheless.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WelderFace In reply to DracoInsanity [2012-06-18 21:03:53 +0000 UTC]

I can totally understand that; he unique traits are what helps develop her as a character.

I quite like the idea of a roguish dwarf; I see them as far more careful, and precise, you know, having spent years adjusting to their heavier frames and bigger digits.

It's much better, i think to avoid the usual, 'axe and armour' stereotype that cramps the dwarf stereotype

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DracoInsanity In reply to WelderFace [2012-06-18 21:46:49 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I agree. As much as I love them in general, they've been pretty solidly stereotyped. I originally based this character off of one of the side races of dwarves in World of Warcraft; the more shamanistic and outdoorsy Wildhammer clan. I liked the idea of having some dwarves who preferred a little more adventure than the typical deep underground lifestyle, so I kinda twisted the idea to better suit my own story plans lol. While she's from a similar type of clan, she isn't too big on the spiritual side of their culture either way, but she definitely has their lust for adventure and the freedom of the outdoors in spades, hence her turning to a life on the high seas. haha

pirate Dwarves!

I must admit, I know very little about the whole WoW back-ground etc. I do like the visual style though; I've always found it quite appealing.

And I like the fact that she's got the whole 'outgoing' free spirited thing going on ^^ I think it works a lot better than her just being gruff and introvert

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DracoInsanity In reply to WelderFace [2012-06-19 16:40:52 +0000 UTC]

lol She's one of three notable pirate dwarves in my storyline. The main one and only female, but her ship's official first mate is a gruff, older dwarf who used to serve the ship's previous captain before she suddenly... disappeared. lol The other is a much more renowned older male who's quite notorious across the oceans for his escapades and tall tales. XD He was basically the inspiration for her to take up the lifestyle, loving the idea of how much more interesting and adventurous it sounded. I like dwarves, and I like pirates, so I had to throw at least a few into the mix. They just kind of became more central characters as time went on.

WoW was actually what turned me onto the idea of dwarven women lol I've always liked the portrayal of the race in general, but WoW did the women in a way that I actually found appealing. (A bit stubbier than how I draw mine, but still more chubby than muscular) After making one for fun and playing it for a while, I got attached to the character and decided to use it elsewhere too. haha Granted you can't be the shamanistic style of dwarf, though they are in the game, which disappointed me.

Her personality is based on two things. One drawing back to her heritage, which are more free and easy than their mountain dwelling cousins in general. The other is an actual person I know. Almost all of my characters have some form of connection to a person I know or have known in reality, which makes them more important to me than someone I just made up lol This one jsut happens to be one of my favourites, both in my story and in life haha

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WelderFace In reply to DracoInsanity [2012-06-19 16:53:37 +0000 UTC]

I think it's nice when you know a person whose personality translates into a character; it strengthens the bond between the illustrator and the character I guess

Most of my characters are based on things I personally won't do, or don't like. For example, I've got druggies, hookers, and more besides in my character roster

Anyway....
I quite like the sound of Dwarven pirates; it sort of makes sense, since they'd have the mechanical know-how to build and operate all the rigging and sailing devices necessary for a lethal sailing ship, and it also strikes a really nice difference between cave dwellers, besides, it'd get the little folks out into the fresh air!
