To cast magic spells, one must speak in the magical Aesopian Language, the words of Aesop. One must also speak with conscious thought and emotion to cast spells, so to not accidentally cast a spell by thinking or reading aloud. Magic uses Mana, the measurement of magic much like gallons or liters. Mana comes from the soul, so consuming all of your magic can kill you with nothing to go to an afterlife. Attempting to resurrect a soulless corpse resulted in the creation of zombies and is forbidden. Magic is replenished by resting, staying healthy, and consuming magical substances like potions. Draining magic results in a magical addiction and an inability to replenish mana naturally, needing to consume sources of magic to survive, thus becoming vampires. Areas of great natural elemental energy such as the Aesopian Elemental Temples radiate magic, creating magical gemstone ore called Magicite. Theses gems can be used as magical batteries in place of ones own mana supply, and come in a myriad of colors and uses.
