This variant of Rockruff is a pure Dark type Pokemon. No one is certain as to how or why it changed the way it did, but one possibility is more competition for food and territory causing it to become more aggressive and unruly compared to their Rock type cousins. These Pokemon are not recommended for young or beginning trainers because they are difficult to tame and train. Even when it recognizes its trainer as the alpha, they will still show hostility to strangers.
