Welcome to the world of Draco Stryx!

This is a very open-ended world, and is more or less a fantasy version of the Earth we all know. Draco Stryx are used as dragon mounts for people all over the world, from all kinds of cultures and countries, and all kinds of geographic origin. The time period is also loose, but is primarily based in a Viking/Celtic/Medieval type of setting, where people are wearing leather, furs, feathers, and are fashioning metal armor and weapons. However, you don't need to feel limited by this! You're encouraged to play in whatever way you like best, regardless of time period or other factors. So if the official premise isn't to your liking, no worries! Do whatever's the most fun for you!
The name of the game is to have fun, and interact with your fellow players through art and writing challenges, as well as roleplay.

Here are some journals you should read, to get yourself familiar with this species and the world they live in! Or, alternatively, just head over to the Crossroads , to find all the information available!

Genetics and Mutations
Lore

Getting StartedNow that you have an idea of what the group is all about, you'll need to know how to integrate into it!

How to Join:
Read the Rules !
This group has open membership, so all you need to do is click the Join button on the front page!
You will also need to create a PaperDemon account and submit this form to link it with your DeviantArt account. Once that's done, if you have any stryx on DA that are not on PD, please fill out this form to get them ported over: here
Now you'll need to get yourself a Draco Stryx. Check the Advertisements section to see if anyone is selling hatchlings, and be sure to +Watch DracoStryx so that you'll be updated when official deals are posted! You can usually purchase a Draco Stryx either with DA points, through Paypal, art payments, or through random chance raffles, or you can pick one up for free from the Adoption Center . No matter what your situation, you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a Stryx to call your very own!

What Now?
Once you have your Stryx, you can start participating in Tributes  so that your dragon will become fit to breed, and Training to take part in the other activities in the group, such as the Arena !

The Path to Ascension

This is the ultimate goal of training and competing with your dragon, to Ascend, and obtain access to exclusive activities, bonuses, and extra breeding slots. To Ascend is to have your destiny fully realized as a dragon or dragon rider, and to become a legend among your peers. Any Stryx that achieves Ascension will share in that status, and will be able to pass on a supreme legacy to its offspring, far better than before. For more information on how to Ascend, read up on the information HERE !

Genetics and Mutations  is where you need to go to get the base coat and marking info for the bird once you adopted the stryx. ~Alri

Omg I just found this comunity and it looks very interesting since I love birds!

It also gives me some Avatar - last airbender feelings here, is there a way to cross that a little bid when I would be part in the comunity?

I always wanted to do something in that direction but was to lazy til now xwx

Sorry for the late reply!
Canonically male and female Stryx are about the same size, however you can interpret Stryx sizes any way you like as long as it falls roughly within species average.  Go wild!

Weird question, I know you've stated here that you can play however you'd like, but is it possible to "import" an owned styx into my current personal stable RP? Or does that entirely remove it from the possibility of being used for the group run RP and events? Basically, I'm wondering if it can be a magical creature in the earth of my stable story as well as used in the group's RP? Weirdly worded question, I hope it can be deciphered!

I just adopted my first Stryx! I'm beyond excited to jump in with him, however I have a few questions. Since he is 2 years old and previously owned, how do I go about training? It looked like he hadn't undergone any training according to his import page. I understand there are 5 tiers in training, am I able to wipe whatever backstory he had (since he didn't come with anything but his personality) and create one where my rider has had him since he was a hatchling? Or how does that work? I figured I'd probably have to start his training at 2 instead of a hatchling, and work on his backstory from that age instead... But I figured I'd at least ask to find out what to do here.

Hey there~ Once a Stryx is yours, they are yours~ You are able to change, wipe, or do whatever with their story as you see fit (unless of course you made a deal with the previous owner). In fact, a lot of people prefer that names and personalities be changed upon transfer. I would usually ask the former owner about changing things up, but from the sound of it you have yourself a slightly blank slate. o v o

So, I've got my first Stryx, how do I go about creating a rider for her? Is there certain ways to go about that as well, or do I just wing it? Because I've seen human and non-human riders, so I just want to get it right (:

Rough rules for riders are threefold. They should have thumbs or at least be able to dexterously handle things with hands, be capable of walking upright on two legs, and not overly teeny or large (a good guide is no taller than the tallest possible human and no shorter than the shortest possible human). Beyond that, there's an enormous amount of variability. You can also have a shapeshifter, but to get the rider bonus and have training and tributes pass, the rider should be in a humanoid form that sticks to those three cardinal rules (i.e. anthro form, not feral form).

Do you have to buy a Stryx or can you also make one for free?

You can either buy a stryx from other members in the advertisement folder or adopt one for free from the Winter Loft Adoptions (2016)  !

I am a new member, and I just obtained my first Stryx. How would I go about setting up a treasury account?

I managed to find it on my own, but I think you should put here a link to the "design approval" journal. I didn't know where to post my design and the informations of my bird (name, personality, etc) and I had to take some time to find it.
Just an idea to make this easier for beginners!

Truthfully, after looking at all the available information, I am slightly confused on how the group runs or what you would do for activities and events. But I have been looking into this group for a long while now, so I figured it's about time I actually joined.
The only think I want to ask is: Do all the activities and events heavily run on drawings or story writing, or is there more then that?

Is it possible to get your first Stryx from the Lackadaisy Loft? Or do you HAVE to go through the Advertisements?

Ok :^D
So I happened to get a corva from the Loft,
Which is a place where you can get a single dracostryx for free.
It is called the Lackadaisy loft, here's the link-
dracostryx.deviantart.com/jour…

You can choose a dracostryx from here-
docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d…
But I'd choose a backup too just in case.

From there, you would reply to this comment
comments.deviantart.com/1/5733…
And say either the number of the stryx you want or copy and paste the comment link that is in front of the dracostryx in the graph.

If you need any other help, you can reply to me :^D

In order to receive a Stryx, most people sell them for money, points, or AP ( ascension points ).

Other than that, It's free!

I guess this regards the "other factors"  in the first paragraph but is it okay If my oc's are too big to ride the Stryx? Will I still be able to participate in things or would I have to train them through other means?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EyeOfGalyx In reply to Berinthia [2016-02-06 08:10:14 +0000 UTC]

For tributes a stryx will specifically need a properly sized rider that can actually ride them, it is recommend to have at least one character for the group that can serve as a rider.  You can make a new character for the purposes of riding, or possibly redesign a character to fit?

Berinthia In reply to EyeOfGalyx [2016-02-06 16:31:40 +0000 UTC]

Okay, Just as long as I could do some of the non-riding artwork with my regular character.
