Description She's back! (Additional views here: [link] )
...And ohmygosh, it's been so long since I've moc'd I didn't even know dA added a "Lego" category!

I'm going to assume everyone already knows how I feel about my moc-ing skills... I'm a dabbling noob doubtlessly worthy of a little moc'ery (Draco puns - am I bad? Ohh yes...) from on high (seriously, idols like ~MapleMaster , ~3rdeye88 , and ~retinence are gods of the brick - and now Draco's namedropping...) but I enjoy it, and I'd like to think I'm learning.

ANYway, Voliga is back... reborn. A little older, a little wiser - silent and brooding... once again she's ready to kick some Makuta butt. Or anyone's butt really.
Where the second posted version of Voliga ([link] ) was a primarily aesthetic edit of the original version ([link] ), this is a true "2.0" build, I think. I didn't even have the previous version on hand when I started working on this.
The body (like pretty much everything else) has been completely rebuilt. I basically started with the body base of one of the Rahkshi (heh, they're still among my favorite "bad guys"). I got pretty frustrated trying to make the armor work how I wanted - seriously, trying to "suggest femininity" with Bionicle is hard. I know you're laughing now. Anyway, I'm slightly frustrated with how thick the overall body came out... I guess that's my "goal" for any subsequent version.
Heh, I finally cannibalized (read: demolished) the Night Hunter ([link] ) piece hog. I tweaked and re-purposed the wings for Voliga 2.0. Amazingly, these things actually seem to hold their own weight pretty well.
Back by the demand of awesomeness (and obliquely, ~Lord-Makuta ), like the original build, Voliga 2.0 holds both her spear weapon and shield - they're not attached in any way.
TOES. Yeah, I'm gunna stop there. (Can you tell I'm in a slightly hyper mood?)
I finally got the pistons... hydraulic wannabe... pressure... friction... tube... things... to work with this "digigrade" leg design (which is pretty much married to Voliga as a character in my head). The feet aren't completely flat, but the legs are SO much stronger now. Voliga might fall over, but she isn't about to crumple from weak knees anymore.

Aaaaannnnnd.... That's about all I got at this point. Enjoy!
I'm going back to my cave now.

im just gonna come out and say this is pretty good, but not great. theres a few too many ball and socket joint pieces and it just looks like a mess. (no offense) the wings look too floppy, maybe try building some things that attach them to the back of the body several ways to keep them from flopping?

Hey! Thanks for the comment.
Sadly, I know. I'm not fluent in Bionicle - I can't "think in it," and I really have to work at what I get, so I know what I end up with isn't much... especially compared to some of the really great builders around dA. Also, this is a "character" that I have and plan to continue evolving, so there are things that I want to continue working on in the future. As far as the wings go, they actually hold up quite well for posing (she's sitting on my bookshelf right now all posed, wings out), but aesthetically I know what you mean - there's not too much "substance" of pieces where they connect to the body. All great points for future work.
Thanks again!

your very welcome.
im too good at bionicle either but (not to be unmoddest) but i usually do things with my mocs and compare them to other mocs i see on DA and realize they may or may not be doing it the right way, so theres alot of potential in this moc.

Ha ha... well, I tend to think little to nothing of my skills - for me it's mostly a process of learning a little each time and focusing on having fun with it! Lego can be art, but in my hands they're still toys. Good advice though, and thanks again!

Well I tried to read what you wrote... but got impatient and kinda skimmed through and then got excited by the comment box.... I really, really think your lego skills are... boss. Awesome.

Yeah, I kind of figured no one would bother with readin' it - that's okay. It was fun to spill guts. xD
Thanks much, mate!! I have fun playing with my toys.

And you're just now discovering this fact? Hmm...

lols, true, you've always been snarky. But it amused me to note how snarky your response was in a fashion that denoted ignorance to the aforementioned concept. xD

Yeah, haven't had nearly enough coffee yet this morning to really read and respond coherently.
"lol" nonetheless. Glad I can amuse someone with my poorly-refined snarkisms.
