Hangaku looked up at the sun, watching it slowly receed

under the rock that he had known his whole life. He

looked on in silence.

He had the fortune and the adversity to enjoy life alone.

He didn't, couldn't, belong anywhere with anything. Being

half dragon and half pheonix, no one could quite let him

belong. The birds shunned his scales and fur, the reptiles

looked askance at his fur and feathers, and mammals

objected to his feathers and scales. Another day went by

where no one flew with him, walked with him, even looked

at him without suspicion or offense.

He walked on, the grass dry but soft, creating a soft

swishing sound that was the only thing breaking the

silence.

He looked at the top, not daring to ever go up there

again, for his worst fears originated at that peak. He

remembered only happiness at first, being where he

wanted to be: at his parents' sides. And then, he

remembered the pain and shock he felt as he fell against

the sharp edges of the rock, rolling down, down, down...

And then he remembered the shadows flying past him

that were his parents, yet they didn't stop, and they

disappeared within the brightness of the sun.

'Mother, Father... you knew, didn't you? That I wouldn't belong... So then, is that why you tried to do away with me?'

Hangaku watched the sun, hoping yet reluctant to believe

his parents would appear from the sun from which they

vanished.

Um.... yeah. I just felt like writing something. I never really knew it would turn out this depressing, though Hangaku means 'half' in Japanese (I think...) And it also means a samurai training school So, he should be martial artistic-like This was more like a practice of all the textures I knew of, and guess what? No brushes!! It was all done by hand, even the grass!! lol, yeah.... Well, that was a loooong description, so thank you for anyone who read it
