Description
A sequence for ChaosOverlordZ as we see a dark side to a familiar Sailor Scout.Mercury has been corrupted by dark magic coming off of a powerful being, shifting her and corrupting her power. And yet, though her powers and even looks are now drenched in darkness, Mercury herself is not evil. She is still a good guy in relation to her goals and rolls in the world, just that her power comes from a different source now.
Not that you'd be scolded for thinking otherwise. She likes people thinking she's evil as it gives a greater intimidation factor.

"the dark's greatest adversary is one of its own! - I think that was an old tagline for Hellsing, and it seems really appropriate here.
From start to finish this is a really cool concept - a hero who despite being visably corrupted by the dark does not fall to it - holding onto her noble ideals and goals, just coming at them from a different angle. It also seems really apropriate to do this to Mercury, a Scout who despite having the weakest physical skillset had the most agile (and deadly) mind - give her a power boost like this and she could be a real hellion. I find imagining what becomes of this to be really enteraining!
Brilliant execution as well - the details you put in are inspired - I particularly like how the new eye emulates the gem in her tiara, and how her transformed sailor collar is actually a pair of blue bat-wings that fold forward around her neck. Your style is one of those ones that is very deceptive to look at - it seems simplistic, but is actually quite complex and involved, and manages to tell a lot with a minimum of fuss. Very stylised and distinctive!

There was a live-action Sailor Moon TV show made in Japan back in the early 2000s, and a story arc for the show actually did have Sailor Mercury become corrupted by evil. But unlike in this drawing of yours, she actually did become evil and had to be saved and purified by her friends.

Well, that would be similar to Lina Inverse, from Slayers. While she's a good guy, her higher order spells all draw from the devil L-Sama!

Did a reread of DKA recently, must of been at least my tenth time. your welcome by the way.
Amazingly it's tied as my favorite fanfic, the Dark Lords of Nermia series is just as awesome (Ranma 1/2 x Sailor Moon), and almost done. Seriously it's just as good, albeit for slightly different reasons. (A less original concept albiet not by much, but more faithful to the original, and the fights are just as spectacular. The tension and comedy are all on point, you could teach writing classes on great storytelling with it the plot threads are used so well.
Also just because anything like this needs crazy awesome, the Wrymspawn fight in ascendant is my favorite written fight seen, in fiction period. It's almost criminal these stories aren't free.
