Worshipped in ancient Assyria and later all over the Mediterranean, by the Canaanites, Arabs, and other Levantine groups, and was eventually adopted by the Greeks and Romans. Her nature closely resembled that of her Phoenician counterpart, Astarte, and with the Anatolian Cybele.
