Anyone made a replica thor helmet, or a loki one??

DragonArmoury In reply to Jak2299 [2013-12-18 19:21:25 +0000 UTC]

I am sure there are some out there. I don`t tend to do replicas as you need a the licence to sell them if you make more than 1.

Hmmm... Interesting idea. Although, i do know one thing, i really need to get one of the leather crafters to fashion me a new quiver... my arrows chewed holes in the last one...

Thank you.

The full suit is hear :

The idea was to make different details so you can customize the armour. So the shoulder plates have plain version. I will be making a dragon version, griffon, undead, and lion. When I eventually get the chance

That is amazing! Veryyy slick and the metal finish is beautiful. Mind if I ask how you achieved the finish?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DragonArmoury In reply to kwalsh000 [2013-06-13 12:39:07 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much. The finish is done with chrome paint. Its all in the prep. You have to have a jet black pure gloss finish to spray the chrome onto.

Ah brilliant, I have always used cold casting or sponge method for my metals but I have to give that method a go on the next build. Thanks!

DBetHig [2013-05-08 15:37:18 +0000 UTC]

what did you use to get such a good metal finish on GRP?
also what is the semi-flexible polyurethane you use?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DragonArmoury In reply to DBetHig [2013-05-21 19:40:37 +0000 UTC]

I use a chrome paint. There are plenty out there. The quality of the finish is all in the prep. It has to go over a perfect gloss black.
I have been using poly plasti flex by nottcut but I don`t think its good enough. I will soon be getting a Graco machine.

DBetHig In reply to DragonArmoury [2013-05-22 16:31:01 +0000 UTC]

graco machine?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DragonArmoury In reply to DBetHig [2013-05-23 20:02:35 +0000 UTC]

It is used alot in the film industry. It sprays ployurea resin which cures in 7 secs. The resin is very, very tough but flexible.

It's breathtaking. Are you going to make the Griffon Knight's armor as well?

DragonArmoury In reply to princesshyrule [2013-03-01 07:43:12 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much. I made the dragon armour which was sort of ment to go with it, but I am working on another suit now which also could work with it.

I can't wait to see it. I am starting to work on armor as well. It's rough to start but so far it's coming along nicely.

beg your pardon, what GRP stands for?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DragonArmoury In reply to Arenaldiel [2011-05-18 13:33:46 +0000 UTC]

It means Glass reinforced plastic. Basicaly fibreglass. Sorry I have been doing this so long I forget that not everyone will know what I am talking about

Arenaldiel In reply to DragonArmoury [2011-05-18 15:08:14 +0000 UTC]

it happens also to me to use a "professional language" sometimes.

DoomGalleon [2011-02-14 20:27:58 +0000 UTC]

Wow that is a very nice helm! Great work
How well does GRP hold up to abuse? Will it handle hardwood impact?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DragonArmoury In reply to DoomGalleon [2011-02-16 21:37:53 +0000 UTC]

Hi and thank you. GRP is not to bad and I have taken a few hits and it held up ok, but I did drop mine and broke it. I have started using a semi flexable polyurathane now and that is fantastic.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Hellwolve In reply to DragonArmoury [2011-05-18 13:54:19 +0000 UTC]

Pardon me for cutting in, but that semi flexable polyurathane...A gauntlet made from it, would that be flexible enough to move your fingers?
