Description A man a woman, just sitting in the car without driving, for they were already at their destination. They weren't sitting there without a reason, not at all. The reason was the song playing on the radio, simple, yet beautiful and classic. Sara, Bob Dylan. The couple smiled, deciding that should be the name if their unborn child should be a girl. But there was one catch, they added an H to the end of the name, making it 'Sarah'.

That should have been the story behind my name and it was at first. It's just, the longer my parents thought about it, the more they began to doubt. You see, I'm Dutch and they wanted my name to be 'Sarah' , adding the H to make people pronounce it the English way. But people never did when they let them read it, so they decided this name just wasn't the one. They were afraid people would call me 'Sara' in the Dutch way or, even worse, 'Saartje'. That just didn't cut it for them. So their search continued, even though their answer lay right before their feet. The only thing they needed to look at, was the name they would've given me if I were to be a boy. Samual. I still can't believe it took them five weeks to figure this out, I mean, it isn't really a riddle. But when they saw, their minds were set. My name was to be Samantha. But that wasn't enough for my parents, no, they wanted to give me a second Γ‘nd a third name. Not forgetting to mention, it all needed to fit! They wanted it to sound nice together and, to complicate things some more, they wanted my initials to be S.A.M. Well, the M was taken very soon, naming me after my father, whose name was Albertus Maria. Yes, my third name I share with the holy virgin, for Mary is Maria in Dutch. My second name wasn't very cleverly thought of. Actually, they took it out of some babybook. They liked how it sounded with the rest of my names and they also liked the meaning, lovable. Now, I bet you're curious about the second name, so I'll tell you. Or even better, I'll just put all the names behind eachother and you can judge how it sounds yourself (even though it sounds way better in Dutch).

Samantha Amanda Maria.

In the end, I'm glad they choose to change my name from Sarah to Samantha, for this name suits me much better. Samantha, the Listener.
