Anita was, from a young age, a remarkably kind person, always ready to help others or lend her ear or do whatever she could for them. She is extremely caring and wants nothing but others' well-being - sometimes at the cost of her own. It's not hard to gain her trust, as she easily connects to others, but once that trust is broken it might never be recovered - she's not an idiot, after all. She's quite gullible in the sense that she will try to believe in the best of anyone at first, even if it they are not a good person. She is compassionate to everyone, to fault - even in the face of her enemies she would show compassion. It's hard to anger her, as she's very patient, but once you have managed to do so she will make you regret it. She protects those she cares for as much as she can, and for them to come into harm is as if she herself were harmed. Anita was born to a small family of four, consisting of her mother, father, and older brother. She lived a happy, mostly uneventful and peaceful childhood; her mother taught her how to cook, her brother let her braid his hair, her father read her books and stories, and they were happy in a pure, simple way. Her family was known to have mild, gentle tempers, and they always taught Anita to be kind to others, and to never resort to violence, words she took to heart. The neighborhood she lived in was a safe place, and so she constantly played outside with other children, making all the friends she could (often by offering them baked goods, ranging from brownies to cookies to cupcakes). But there was one friend she cared for more than the rest: Kirean Ishikawa. Outwards, he seemed cold and snarky, but Anita instantly decided that she would become best friends with him.
And so she did. Through much pestering, cupcakes, and chatting, she got past Kirean's initial coldness and the two became inseparable. She was extremely fascinated by the videogames he loved: he was so good at them, it impressed her incredibly, even if she barely understood what they were about. And he was so smart, too! Anita looked up to Kirean about a lot of things, and she was always happy that she decided to befriend him.
She thought they would be able to grow up and attend the same schools, and be best friends forever, but fate had other, cruel plans.
When she was 10, the aliens appeared, and she was separated from Kirean. Her entire family managed to avoid being caught by the spaceships and sent off to god-knows-where, but instead were met with the sad fate of being stuck on Earth, used as labor to mine the planet's remaining resources. As the years passed, Anita's hopes of ever seeing Kirean again withered away. She spent many sleepless nights wondering where he was, if he was okay, if he was safe, and many of those nights were spent crying. One day, when she was 16, she decided to give up. She couldn't live with the emotional turmoil anymore, so she had to cut herself off. She decided to assume that Kirean had died, and came to terms with that. For her, it was a fact, even if it could be a lie - regardless of it, she was stuck on this planet with little hopes of ever being rescued, so the chances she would ever reunite with anyone from her past life were minimal.
One day, roughly ten years after the invasion began - Anita had long since lost the concept of time by then - she was separated from her family and put in a cargo ship to be sent off elsewhere for some other type of work. It hurt that she was being torn away from her family, but she had experienced far too many negative experiences for it to have a lasting impact on her. She merely did what she was ordered to on the ship, expecting an uneventful travel to their destination.
Thankfully this did not happen. Before she could tell what was happening, the ship was attacked and her, as long with other humans, was freed from the claws of her invaders, sent to become a cadet to defend humanity from the invaders.
At the academy, she finally reunited with Kirean after ten years of being apart. Initially she could hardly believe it, and she barely recognized him, either - ten years can change a person. But it was still him, and he was alive, and he was there. She cried for a long time, shedding tears of happiness, of anger, of sorrow. All the emotions that she had kept bottled up for a long time came pouring out, as she finally met her childhood friend again.
She made a vow that day; to keep moving forward and one day rescue her family from the hands of the invaders, just like she herself was saved.

Only started wearing glasses recently. She was born with nearsightedness, but she didn't notice it until she was already captive, and so only started wearing glasses when she was rescued.

Has a big crush on Kirean, but hasn't realized it yet.

Secretly feels like she has to "make up" for having stayed on Earth and living a fairly easy life while everyone else had it so rough.
