So here's something I don't believe I've talked about on here yet. I have been working on hatching some of my own shiny pokemon in my Moon game!My first shiny I hatched (my first one I've bred ever!) was a male shiny Rockruff named Rascal! He grew up into a midnight Lycanroc not too long ago, and he's quite the scrapper when it comes to fighting.
My second shiny was a female Growlithe, who I named Maisie. She's a adamant-nature Arcanine with a love for a red hot battle. She's tough but a little reckless at times, and a lot of her moves take recoil damage if she isn't careful.
Those are my two first shiny pokemon that I've obtained myself! I've a few others that I've gotten over wondertrade, but I love being able to say these two are legitimately my own shinies! I'm currently breeding for a shiny Fennekin now, and I plan to hatch more shinies after that in the future.

Trust me, I know what you mean. Rockruff and Growlithe were some of the first pokemon I ever S.O.S called in Pokemon Moon. Not only that, but my first hatched shiny was a Rockruff, which later evolved into a Dusk-Form Lycanroc. Just wanted to say that I love your work and I hope you got lucky with Fennekin!

Thank you for the lovely comment! I did end up getting pretty lucky with Fennekin, he hatched for me after 423 eggs! He's a purple Braixen now and I couldn't be happier!

Well, you definitely did get lucky! I didn't get mine until 620 eggs, but now he has been added to my shiny collection as a Delphox.

Awesome! Shiny hunting can be so tedious but the payoff is worth it! So far my longest hunt has been about 920 eggs for a shiny sentret

You know what's funny? The first shiny starter I ever hunted for was a Charmander. 4 eggs later, and there was a yellow firey-tailed lizard on my screen. You can imagine my surprise.

Oh my gosh just 4 eggs, talk about luck! I think my lowest so far has been 87 eggs for a shiny Magikarp

Hey, even my luck has to take a break every once in a while. Like the Mewtwo that I was soft-resetting for lasted until 4,242 soft-resets, but then again, that was after getting a shiny Yveltal in just 12 soft-resets. So, my luck balances itself out.

There you go! It really does seem to vary, especially since it’s a truly random event to encounter a shiny. I haven’t tried soft resetting any legendaries yet but I’d love to try!
