redraw of an old drawing i made back in 2018 when i was first getting into digital art
i started this back in january and today i finally finished the background and shading, it was actually gonna be a "1 year of improvement" type thing but then i realized i misread the date on the old drawing and it was actually two years old lmao. i was like "wow i actually improved a lot in a year!!" lol. i still think it's kind of impressive for only 2 years tho. so yeah, if ur not happy with ur art, just keep drawin dude and try to draw new things, you'll improve. you probably won't notice until in like a year when you look back at ur old art and ur like "wow this is dogshit" cuz its definitely a slow process, but holy shit is it worth it when u can finally just sit down and draw whatever and it actually turns out kind of decent 70% of the time. so just keep working at it, you'll get there!

also listen to what ur art teacher says, ik a lot of young artists just wanna draw anime and furries n shit and 12-year-old me was the same way, but if u wanna draw good cartoons/anime you've GOT to be able to draw well realistically as well, it just comes with the territory i'm afraid. ik color theory and contour line drawings and still-lifes and shit are fucking boring and hard but that shit will help you sooo much, just try to find a balance between drawing stuff thats boring but rlly helpful and stuff u actually enjoy drawing. also keep in mind that being able to draw well realistically doesn't mean you'll automatically be good at drawing cartoons/anime, it takes practice to cartoon-ify shit as well. u just gotta find a good middle ground. ALSO USE REFERENCES they help so much like holy shit
