Everyone’s favorite sandwing queen… because she’s the only one we know of that isn’t completely horrible! I generally think Thorn is ok, but there are two things about her I have issues with. One, Sunny only knew her mother for like, two days or less before she decided to make her queen. I mean, yeah, she’s waaaaaay better than the other options, but I think you should know someone for longer before you decide to give them absolute power over a nation. And two, this is the big one, she killed Preyhunter. Why? Because he gave her news she didn’t want to hear. THAT IS MESSED UP. On top of it, why didn’t she like the news? Because it said that someone she wanted to kill was already dead. And that’s a little concerning for several reasons if you ask me. Later, when Sunny asks Thorn why she killed Preyhunter, she just says that “Sometimes you have to show your claws”. How many other times has Thorn simply killed or maimed someone because she felt she had to “Show her claws?” On the other hand, I know where this came from. Thorn was raised in the scorpion den, where life was BRUTAL. So it makes sense that she’d have a rather violent mentality. And also, it makes her a really interesting character, and it adds a lot of depth to her. What I want to see is a winglet where Thorn realizes that violence and brutality is not always the answer. This would be so cool to read about! It could add some of her backstory in there as well.
