I think Grasshoppers are one of the ugliest animals on the planet. Seriously, have you ever actually looked at one up close?

They have nasty barbs on their legs, they puke on you when you catch them, and the exoskeleton plates look like some kind of powered armor from Hell. Their claws can scratch skin (not cut, just scratch), and their mouth looks like something from a horror/alien movie.
Actually, Hollywood probably got the idea from nature in the first place.

Despite this, I admire them because they are very, very good at what they do.

Those legs are powerful, allowing full-grown grasshoppers to jump at least ten feet if they try, and they can also kick hard enough to escape your grip if you hold them wrong.
Its kind of like a spider web; although it could never possibly [i]stop[/i] a human, the strength of such a small creature is impressive.

I think I freaked this one out, because I kept catching it and letting it go. I tried to get a picture from the front, but Poing wanted none of it. He/she kept turning away from me, prepared to hop away if the camera came much closer. I still got pretty close though; probably about four or five inches.
