Pokemon Y was a blast! From the region to the overall plot, I loved it! Don't get me started on Yveltal's cry either. Hoooohooooo. <3

While I actually didn't like X/Y(the pitifully small ensemble of new Pokémon, the intentionally bad crime organization - Game Freak wasn't even trying, that is an abysmal low, Mega Evolutions, how new Gen. 6 really isn't), I still found it at least decent. Here's my X team:

I picked Venusaur, though it was my only choice seeing as I wanted a fire, water, and grass starter, and had already gotten my Torchic and Froakie... Venusaur is still pretty cool

I already had Chesnaught, so having another Grass-type on my team would've been redundant. That and I already planned to have Chespin + Charmander from the get-go.

oh i wish i had a chesnaught though because i have greninja and brainxen(a gift from that girl :/) well it would have been wierd because my brother has 2 fire types...like braixen's evolution(that i forgot) and charizard(he likes it to much)

They both have their useful niches. Charizard Y can fire off Solar Beams at will, while Chesnaught can wall anyone who throws pulse and ball moves at it, like Mega Gengar. Their designs are cool too imo. ^^

Pretty awesome team dude. I had a Chesnaught too (his name was Armand). Along with him was Commando (Talonflame), Ezio (that Mega Lucario you get), Murvale (Malamar), Carlos (Mega Blastoise), and Excalibur (Aegislash, naturally) XD. Finished the game two days after I got it and now on the Looker Bureau.
