It doesn't deal damage. It's a passive mob.

But if you kill them, they no longer can update this mod.

Dragonith, I have a question... why you do models for a discontinued mod? why you don't send the model to "fossil archeology fans's ressainance"

Well, one, I'm aware that the mod's being continued. I'm supportive of the current team's efforts on keeping it alive. And two, it's a fun past time creating dinosaurs in Minecraft.

I'd get this mod in a heart beat, but I'm a little skeptical on what it would do to my Minecraft.

It brings a lot of changes, that's for sure (new structures, fossil blocks). So that may tamper a bit with world generation. Otherwise, I'd recommend it.

"Before you decide to mod (modify) your copy of Minecraft, it is very important to understand what you are doing or you may end up messing up your copy. (If your copy of Minecraft is compromised, you can always backup your worlds and re-download Minecraft)" - Minecraft Wiki
THAT'S what I'm more or less worried about.

Aaaaaah. I assume you've never installed a mod before? You can copy your .jar file to backup your Minecraft. If the .jar ever gets corrupted, you'll have a backup handy, which is good if you're installing mods and screw up. Otherwise, you can also Force Update to clean up a corrupted Minecraft file. There should be various Minecraft tutorials on mod installation all over the place. So long as you don't delete anything important, you should be fine.

If you avoid spooking them yourself, they could make a good alarm system.
