Description
This is a sculpture I did of Bowser, King of the Koopas. I was picturing him as a dinosaur inspired kaiju type monster, wasn't really going for Giga Bowser though I do love that design.

This is a blend of Sculpey Premo and Sculpey Firm over a cardboard/wire/plaster strip armature. The horns and spikes are translucent Sculpey Premo that I did a dark wash over, then I added a gloss finish. The eyes are clear glass domes I bought on ebay, I painted the backs to look like eyes. I usually use prepainted glass taxidermy eyes but all the ones I had didn't really seem like a good look for him, and I didn't feel like ordering more eyes. The bag of 10 clear glass cabochons was 70 cents including shipping, so I thought I'd try painting my own for this project, I think they turned out pretty decent. They also have a "follow you" effect like some glass eyes do, it looks like pupils are always looking at you. This is about 15 inches tall (38 cm). I started this project in late July 2016 and finished April 2017.

I entered this sculpture in the 2017 Ohio State Fair Fine Arts Exhibition, and he will be on display for the duration of the fair at the Cox Fine Arts Center from July 26 through August 6, 2017. Thanks for looking and have a great day!
