Description
Been a little while since I did a portrait and i have a paid commission coming up so I thought I'd warm up with a couple from the SPN cast since i love that show. I picked some neat AND challenging ones. This is the first one I finished and you can see it in process here. This morning I was convinced there was NO way i could finish this picture because I just couldn't get the scruff to look right.This is the actual scan - i attempted to play with the brightness contrast settings to offset the reflections of the graphite from the scanner, I hope I didn't lose too much detail.
Β materials used: H, 5B, 6B, 7B, 9B, Kneaded eraser, cloth, staedtler eraser
time elapsed - almost 10 hours Β
(Note, started a week ago. I never have the time to just sit down and do a picture like this in all one straight go)

oh my god, no, no it is NOT an easy angle (but then again, that was part of the reason i was captivated by the picture and had to try drawing it. i like challenges

oh my god the beard - i thought for SURE i was gonna die working on that, and that i'd ruin the picture!! that was so challenging!! Β I am very pleased with how it came out. As i get more practice in drawing scruff like that, i'm sure i'll see ways i could have made this better, but at this point, i'm very proud of it....and glad i stuck it out!
