However, he is useless in a fight. Although he has a developed move pool, he has done little to develop his actual strength and skill in battle. Because of this, he will often avoid physical combat as frequently as possible, opting to be diplomatic and come to and agreement via words rather than fists.

Avin's acts kindly, compassionate, confident, and sensitive up front to those that don't know him. However, he is more insecure, defensive, and protective than he lets on. Prying into his past, his battle ability, or his fears will trigger a more defensive behavior and cause him to quickly change the subject.

History:

He and Crucible come from Waring families that often compete and battle for use of a rare hot springs located on the mountains. Every year the Frost family, consisting of only Alolan Vuplix/Ninetales, would fight against the Drake family, consisting of Charmander's evolution line. The Frost family used these hot springs to brew potent potions of rejuvenation that they sell for high profits. This meant that their family had to be proficient with battle and perfected to fight fire and flying-types, or sacrifice a years worth of one of their biggest profit makers. However, Avin wasn't very strong in battle, often being too frail and having soft hits. Things changed when the time came to gain Secret Power. Like all of his family he was going to gain a rock-typing that was a valuable asset against the flying and fire-types. Instead, he gained grass-typing. He went from having "little potential" to a disgrace to the family. He was neglected because of this, often giving all the chores and busy work of the households. Angered by this, he started neglecting his tasks and flirting with customers that came by, coaxing their attention to him. He adored being loved and the attention he got, it was more than his family ever gave him. However, the year that it was his turn to fight, he instructed he will be pitted against the Drake's "star child". He over-heard that if she is really their best, then they aren't going to give them a fight worth having and hoping she would end up killing Avin to get rid of their little reject.

He thought about running away, but he preferred to just accepting his fate, instead. When the day came to fight off against the "star child" Crucible. It went as well as expected, thankfully he had his life at the end, to his family's upset. That isn't to say he didn't come out with a couple broken bones. After the fight, and being poorly treated for his wounds, he decided to go for a walk to the springs. After and before the battle for hot spring control, there is something of a stalemate period where no one has control. That night, Crucible also visited and the two shared harsh words and another fight almost broke out. Their bickering was cut short by an earthquake on the mountain top. The mountain began to crumble and break, the ground shattered under them. Crucible managed to grab Avin and hull the two of them to a cave close by. The two were sealed off for days, relying on Crucible's fire to guide them and Avin's dig to get out. The worst moments is when Crucible left, leaving him in the dark. He still hates the dark to this day. When they got out, their home was destroyed, the springs gone, and a thick fogs shrouded the area.

Having nowhere to go or to turn to, the two decided to make a truce and work together to find civilization. Begrudgingly. But he owed Crucible his life.

Crucible is a very direct, honest, and no-nonsense type of Pokemon. She can not lie and can't talk to others well. She lacks social skills, often saying things quite hurtful. She isn't inherently nasty, just doesn't really care or understand social context and thinks it's a waste of time. She is prone to fights and is quite vicious during them. She is often compared to as a monster to most normal 'mon, and she is a bit sensitive about being called things along the lines. However, she tries her best to make friends but gets discouraged quickly when she messes up or doesn't get the response she wants.

Crucible acts very confrontational and says the wrong thing at the wrong time. But if she hurts someone unintentionally and notices, she feels quite guilty, places the blame on herself, and flees the situation. The reality is, she is quite lonely and just wishes to be normal. Crucible showed a lot of promise when she was first able to stand, displaying levels of power rare for her age. The seeds of her battle prowess was nurtured and grown, making her a battle expert within a few years. The sacrifice was her social skills and academic ability. The family viewed her as the "star child." She was adored and loved by all of her family, she loved it, she didn't even need to try. Shen it was her day to shine, to finally fight one of the Frost family's representatives, she filled her own head with fantasies of fighting the best of the best they had to offer, defeating them in a heated battle and winning the springs for her family. But her parents told her that she was up against their runt, and a deal was struck that she needed to kill him. To her, this didn't feel right. She realized that her family made a deal with the Frost family to kill their own.

During the fight, her opponent Avin, didn't even put up a fight. Went down like a sack of potatoes on a rainy day. But Crucible was pushed. She went further and further, ordered to take his life. She refused, turning away and exiting the arena without a word. She got a stern lesson that night from her mother and father, and several scars to show for her defiance. It was the first time she was really punished, and left her in a state of depression. He retreated to the springs to think about what happened and met Avin there, sulking. The two argued, she blamed him for being weak and that being why she had to spare him, he blamed her for being a mindless monster that couldn't think for herself. An earthquake interrupted their arguing. An earthquake at the top of the mountain, Crucible knew the dangers that posed. She knew of a cave nearby that she visited for solitude some nights. She grabbed Avin and fled to the cave, thinking that would be their only way to survive. The two were sealed in the darkness for 3 days. Crucible, thankfully was trained in survival and knew how to sniff out water for them while Avin dug them out. When they got out, their homes were destroyed, the springs buried, and a thick mist filled the area.
