Another underrated kaiju in the GZilla-franchise. He hasn't been in any movies other than in the Showa Era. I've heard some info that Varan was originally going to appear in 2001's GMK along with Anguirus, but both were replaced with Mothra and King Ghidorah, respectively.It's pretty unique for a kaiju to be based-on a flying squirrel of sorts. He has no beam-powers of any kind, other than a "sonic beam".
This Varan apparently has virtually no lumps filled with helium on his skin, yet he can easily make his gliding-membranes expand for long-distance sky travel. The bright-orange coloration is mainly reminiscent to his design in 1968's Destroy All Monsters, though some other faint shades like green, dark-brown and beige were added for a little variety. His tall spines are what really make him look exceptionally regal.
The design-name for this character-interpretation is "DragoVaran" (I'm not sure if that's the true name of the actual suit-design, or "Baran", since he's also sometimes referred as "Baradagi"). When standing bipedally, he is around 90 meters (300 feet), which is just around the same height as Rodan.
