Description
The Cheekpuncher (Angulospinus dismembrognata) is a bizarre deep water fish that lives in the darkness of the future oceans dozens of millions of yeas after our era, these evolved an extendable jaw convergent to the dragonfish that allowed them to open their mouth in a way that could engulf prey, however, their jaws would derive considerably in the following million years, causing much of the back of the jaw being the whole low jaw, the premaxillar and the maxillar would become detached from the main body, becoming articulated just at the front and only connected by a thick muscle from the quadrate, eventually making the original mouth atrophied and being no longer useful for food intake, instead it was modified to act as a kind of forceful appendage capable of generating enough force kinetica to break the exoskeleton of prey as arthropods.
although it does not already have a functional first jaw, these are still able to consume food thanks to a second jaw that is behind the first one.
