Giving things a trial run isn't a bad idea with most things - but this is a bit different than that, Ted.
In other news, I'm really pleased with that last panel. Woohoo!

And in other, other news, as we approach the end of the chapter soon, Dragontry might end up taking a little hiatus. I tried to prepare the next chapter earlier on, but a last minute storytelling change had me backtracking, and then school and work caught up with me as well. XD So we might have a little hiatus while I prepare chapter 4. Hopefully, it won't be a long one!

Okay, but lets be real here. If I happened to have a DRAGON hatch in front of me and the person holding it told me that I was its rider, ID BE ALL OVER THAT!  Ive wanted a dragon since I was like, 2. Id die if I could actually have one as a companion!!

Probably to put it into perspective, this is more of the decision Ted was facing -
Imagine if you saw the birth of an animal that you know is extremely dangerous. Adorable, right now, and it has a handler nearby, so you aren't afraid - but then the handler tells you that you are now its caretaker. You don't know anything about how one would take care of this cute thing and then what to do when it becomes - y'now - lethal.
Added to that, the handler is part of a religion that your country views with extreme distrust. You know, historically, that members of this religion have done some incredibly bad things. You yourself have never met one long enough to form an opinion, so you feel that you are pretty open, but you can't help but remember the horror stories you learned growing up, or the way people around you talk about this religion.
Plus, it's a religion. A big thing, to align yourself with a group whose views and beliefs you do not even know.

Now imagine that being a caretaker to this extremely dangerous animal is an integral part of this religion. So not only is the handler asking you to raise an animal that you are fairly certain could one day kill you, they are asking you to associate yourself with a religion that you do not understand, and of which you have only ever heard ill, and to leave your home and move away to do so.

The fact that Ted is as passionate about his book as he is, is the only reason that he is making the choice he is now.

Not a bad idea Ted, but looks like this is going to be a bigger commitment than you thought. Already you are learning the culture of dragons. XD
