Looks like how she's always rendered Deep Space Dragon hair, or at least how she's been doing it for a while. *shrug* This technique is actually what confused you the first time with that piece I recently did of Nova when you thought you saw purple in his hair. It was just the spacey background showing through the translucent part of the fibers, and the blue background mixed with the yellow-orange hue of his hair made it appear to be purple.
Also.... When did you show her up? I don't see you often working with the glowing attributes of these dragons, as nice as your renderings of them have been in the past. So I'm lost as to what you're referring to.

and actually, to be really honest with you?? as often as she changes the way things go about things, its really hard to follow the species, that's why I do not own any of my own. I am afraid of messing something up again.
you'll have to give me a break, I can't mind read. 
I just wish she would be a bit more consistent with the species, yanno? when you draw dsd art you always do so in a consistent manner. hers keeps changing, thus being the 'master' of the dsd species as a whole, she confuses the rest of us. as a leader o something, you'd think one has to be responsible of letting the other guys know of changes? O.o;

weeeell first off, up until now she has not used the same "rendering" as you have... even if this is still not what you did.
nor is this how actual optics work anyway, she did indeed say optic like to me before, but it looks to me like there's nothing there at all whatsoever if there is lack of color when she does it.. which means... it doesn't exist o.o even transparent things have a white to them that allows them to be seen, right?
I understand what you did, but it looks to me like the hair is going for a very ...reflective look. kinda like iridescence but with actual details, ie; why your picture looked as if it had purple or somethin in it.

also, I do believe she pays attention a wee bit better than you then, since she'd know about my apparent "space mosquitos" and how they are, even if my traditional art can't show it, exactly like fiber optics. :3
anywho, I'm not trying to start a fight, nor am I actually talking to you. she'd know what I'm saying if she responded instead of getting her girlfriend to, whether she actually did or not isn't my bizz. but yanno, its not nice to play eye for an eye games just coz I didn't "muzzle my girlfriend" in the past. maybe she should muzzle hers, aye? ;3

Idk. She never gets me to talk for her. I just happened to be online and I took another look at her picture and saw your comment. That's all. But I'm not playing any games. I was just trying to explain her technique.
But if you can't show it in traditional art, which is difficult, I know, I've tried... Maybe it's easier with paint than it is with coloured pencils.... Then you haven't really shown anyone up. Just explained characteristics verbally. I've always understood the glowing attribute to be bio luminescence. Fiber optics is probably just a term she used to help describe the look to people. But perhaps I've misinterpreted. Maybe she's said different things to you than she has to me. Sometimes it's hard to explain something the very same way to two or more different people at different times.
And if you weren't trying to start a fight, you wouldn't have structured your comment like that. You're very passive aggressive you know, and back-handed compliments are almost always meant to start a fight or get under someone's skin. Since it's apparent you've revoked your fan status of the species by giving all of your dragons back, as well as saying they were too complicated for anyone to understand, this comment was obviously a jab at Gabrielle. I was only trying to help. But your comment wasn't very constructive.
And maybe I am missing something, I don't know, but I don't see any changes in how she renders the dragons. They're all the darkest hue of their markings, their hair always glows, the mouth, eyes and claws all must either glow together or not glow at all, and they have hair down the length of their bodies. She listed all of the exceptions to these rules in her genetic mutations list for those out there who wanted different dragons. I don't see how that can be complicated.
And about the muzzling... Perhaps my words were harsh. But I have not attacked you. I have not come to your page accusing you of things, talked down to you about your art, or otherwise harassed you. That is the difference. And your little happy faces in sarcasm aren't cute. They're childish.

and yea maybe I am passive aggressive, I tend to be. I'm not exactly kind when it comes to showing someone how it is, whether its with my WORDS or with my art.
and yea. I'm aware that she uses it to describe to people, but hey I'm still going with the roots of how her species was before going complete sparkledragon. for some reason I liked how the species was then. oh, its not complicated. its easy to tell that they are a bunch of dragons that glow on 40% of their anatomy, and that they have different markings and etc etc. This I do see.
and lastly, over all, its funny how you make me out to be stupid or something. :/ well played, sister.
I end this 'thing' going on with us two right now with one message: put more faith in your little gabrielle. it is indeed good to protect one's "mate" but this is just flat out ridiculous. if SHE had looked and not you, she would probably have seen it differently than you and understood wtf I was saying in the first place, lmao.

I never said you were stupid. You're a very intelligent woman. I knew that the first day I met you. And I'm not protecting Gabrielle here at all. Critique her all you want. I wouldn't care if that's what you had been doing. But you had another agenda. You meant to hurt her pride. There's a difference between telling someone how it is and just trying to cut with words. If you had said something to the effect of "I like what you did with the hair. Seems you're getting better as you continue to draw these guys", I wouldn't have even said a word. But you didn't. That's the only reason I said anything.
But regardless of who could have or should have seen your comment first, you made it public, so perhaps you could have considered how anyone could interpret your words before you posted them and assumed that everything would be alright.

I'm not coddling her by calling you out on a back-handed compliment, which is something you do often with her, I've noticed. And besides, I'd do that to anyone if I saw it.
And there's nothing wrong with being proud of something you've created. There's a lot of work and trial and error that goes into that process, as I'm sure you know, so pride is only a natural end result if you feel what you've made is good. And if other people seem to like it too, why not be proud of what you've made? I know I certainly would be, and that I have been in the past.
And constructive critique isn't kissing someone's butt. I critique her all the time, and I don't dust my words with powdered sugar before I say them to her. I tell her exactly how I feel about the work she produces, and honestly, most of the time she doesn't like it when I do. I may be honest with her, and sometimes my honesty may come off a bit harsh if what I say isn't what she wants to hear, but at least I don't use the time to critique to stab at a weak point in her pride. Critique should be offered to help, not to let someone know that they've been shown up, or that they/their work is inferior to someone else. Otherwise, if you want to insult someone, just come right out and do it.
And yeah... I guess I am opinionated. You're quite right. But I had to be growing up, however, my opinions can change just as all things can. So yes, you may not be the best with social stuff or words, but that does not mean that you can't improve. Anytime you find yourself in a situation like this, you could always learn from it.
