Description

I had this work in mind ever since my first viewing of the revealed design for Galarian Farfetch'd and I said to myself... this feels very much like the designer was a big fan of Cloud Strife and carries very similar elements to the FF7 protagonist: Huge-over-the-shoulder weapon, similar weapon carrying stance, and the angry (emo-like) expression. I'm by no means a fan of FF7, but I've played it entirely previously to remember quite a bit of it. I don't think I'm the only one to think of this comparison between the new Farfetch'd and Cloud. If I had to continue on with FF references for Farfetch'd, it appears to be a slim similarity of Sirfetch'd to the Warrior of Light from Dissidia as he is literally the only playable FF character in that game carrying a shield.

After I played Sword and Shield, it dawned on me to make this parody game cover, using the Hammerlocke Stadium as the stand-in for the Shinra Building (coincidently the Pokemon stadium is home to a Power Plant), and replacing Meteor in the logo with the Wishing Star piece. The Dynamax sky above the stadium is an event that takes place near the end of the main story.

I planned out creating this shortly after Sword and Shield's release, but was really short on the inspiration and energy to work on it until I felt like I could really turn on my tablet again. The whole global plague we are in, didn't help even though I did find myself at home more than usual which should've provided me more opportunities to just draw. Drawing Farfetch'd wasn't hard, the difficulty was primarily the Hammerlocke stadium which amounted to a background, which I really hated; still have yet to assemble a background style I feel comfortable with and can use more frequently in my future artwork.
