Description
There were days when each hour was a war I fought to survive
There were nights full of nightmares and I dreaded closing my eyes
There were skies that burst open with a downpour to drown me alive
But the world took a spark like a match in the dark and the fire brought me to life
So I'm fanning the flames to climb so high 'cause there's no other way we can stay alive
'Cause we're burning bright as we all unite
And when it's all said and done we'll shine like the sun so don't let the fire die
And we'll watch the sky as it fills with light
And though the embers are new, whatever you do just don't let the fire die

Grace enjoys spending time outside, exploring unknown places, alien planets or otherwise, she often paints and draws in her spare time but doesn't share her art with many, training and practicing her martial arts, and spending time with her family, she is also quite fond of water and enjoys swimming... Just not in armour.
Dislikes
Grace is no fan of elites, having fought many in the war, losing her entire team of ODST's back when she was a ODST, she distrusts them but this can be overcome... In a lot of time. Interesting Facts
- Grace has a lot of scars on her back and shoulders, though some have faded over the years

Personality
[Introvert] [Hard Working] [Sarcastic] [Loyal] [Carring] [Friendly] [Playful (Around friends)]
[Introvert]
"Oh that party sounds fun but I think I'll just go for a walk, but thanks anyway!"
Grace is an introvert and always has been, she's not one for large parties loud noise or rooms of crowded people. Preferring that of a nice quiet walk out with friends to that of cramped buildings of people and music.
[Hard Working]
"I need to practice for two more hours, then maybe I'll take a break."
Grace is a hard worker, almost to a fault... Often needing someone to tell her to stop before she hurts herself. Training is what she spends most of her time doing when given a task she works hard at it.
[Sarcastic]
"Yeah running straight towards the enemy and expecting to win sounds like a great plan!"
Grace's favorite type of homour is sarcasm, she uses it often, so be ready to hear some of it if you meet her!
[Loyal]
"The UNSC gave me a second chance to redeem myself and protect the innocent, I would never betray that."
Grace is loyal to the UNSC its what she's wanted to do her whole life and plans to dedicate her life to her duties. Her loyalty to the USNC is unquestioning, but... She doesn't mind breaking the rules a few times for the better good.
[Carring]
"Hey its gonna be okay, your fine, just relax I'm here for you don't worry!"
Grace despite her years of war experience, isn't heartless, she is quite emotional sometimes and it gets her in trouble at times. But when it comes to fighting she is able to put her emotions aside and focus on the task at hand. But they bubble up, later on, she's a naturally caring person and wants to be there for her friends as much as she can when they need her.
[Friendly]
"Hello! Nice to meet you, I'm Spartan Winters, but you can call me Grace if you like!"
Grace though not very extroverted is far from shy, she's quite friendly and polite enjoying meeting new people or making new friends.
[Playful (Around friends)]
"Ahah I gotcha now! Now I'm gonna tickle you, you can't escape my tickles!"
Grace can be pretty playful at home, or when around friends, she likes to play around and joke, having never had the chance to be a kid its nice to sometimes just be silly with friends for her.
History
Grace grew up in a military family, her father, father's father father's were all in the military. Going back many generations, it was almost a given that the male child would join the military. The thing was, her father didn't have a male child, for her mother had died in childbirth and it filled him with grief. Though it was hard to please her father, she wanted nothing more than to do that. And to Grace, she could see the honor and the joy it brought him talking about his military career, the adventures, good and bad, that he had.
She wanted that, she wanted to be that 'hero' that person who did whatever it took, gave up their entire life, for the better good. And though sometimes his stories were filled with sad things, war, and death, she understood that was simply a consequence of an evil world. Perhaps she was too optimistic, perhaps she was just a child with a big dream. But that's what she wanted, and she greatly admired her father and followed suit in his steps so to speak. She trained even before joining the UNSC, learning all she could from her father and training in martial arts since she was very young. Her best class in School was War History, she studied hard and took all the history lessons she could just so she could learn about the other wars in the UNSC history. Finally, she turned 18 and joined the UNSC, quickly becoming a ODST and fighting in the human-covenant war.
Her skills as a marksman became clear as time went on, soon she was a Sargeant and lead a team of ODST's down into a city being bombarded by covenant elites and troops. It wasn't unlike many missions, the only problem was it was basically a suicide mission - the covenant came in such large forces, more than ever expected - the ODST's had no chance of winning the fight. It was lost cause really, the city was small and mostly unarmed, not ready to face the armada of Elites, Grunts, and Jackals. Her team got overwhelmed and she sent two of them ahead to try to get in contact with the UNSC by using one of the ratio towers, but they were ambushed and helpless against the elites that killed them. Still within eyesight of Grace and she watched as the elites tore them limb from limb, unable to help them as she herself was still fighting. Soon it was just her and one other teammate, a man by the name of Jack. They fought off the rest of the elites, barley, but Grace was badly wounded, an elite had sliced its sword into the back of her armor and Jack had stopped it just barely in time from cutting right through her.
Jack dragged an unconscious Grace back to an abandoned cave, trying to hide from the covenant searching for them. He wasn't as stable as you might think... One of the team members of Grace's team was his wife, and he blamed Grace for her death. Stricken with grief, anger, and rage, he took it out on her, she is helpless to stop him. Without going into details - (for some may be of a young audience reading this) he is the reason for the many man knife scars on her back/shoulders. I'll let you use your imagination on this one, he kept her alive so she could 'suffer' more, using biofoam in her wounds.
Barely alive at this point, Jack has taken his rage out on her was startled by a call on his COM - the UNSC broke through the Covenant in this sector and where sending a pelican in to get survivors and get out before the Covie's could come back at full force and wipe out every UNSC personnel left in the city. Jack decided to play his cards well, tell a lie about Grace's wounds and see if he could continue his ODST duties. As I said, the man was stricken with grief and not as stable as you might think...
She spends six months in the hospital to recover, Jack told a lie that the Elites had captured her and done that too her. She allowed him to say that lie and never told the truth to anyone until years later, by then, it was too late to tell. Her military career took a huge hit, spending much time in the hospital and losing all her team was not good on a record, and she struggled to convince them she was still good for combat at all, let alone as a Sargent, or even as a ODST.
Fearing that the thing she had wanted all her life would be taken away, she trained harder then ever, night and day, refusing to give up because of what happened. Grace's determination - or maybe just pure stubbornness - pushed her to keep going, regardless of what the UNSC told her. Luckily for her... Someone else took an interest in her abilities.
The Freelancer Program
(This is where the show Red vs Blue merges with Halo in Grace's history for those who may be confused!)
A two people in black armour that similar to Spartans but... Different, lighter and thinner, not big and bulky, it looked like a different model, maybe a copy based on the Spartan II armour, but not as powerful. They showed up in her room one day, and offered her a job, a job to join a program called Freelancer that focused on training up Agents to go in and dismantle the Innies and Covenant alike from the inside out.
It seemed too good to be true, but they were willing to take her in and let her continue her desire to be a soldier. To fight the covenant and the insurrectionist and stop the death of the innocent. Why would she say no? She accepted it, and changed her name to Grace, but that was rarely used anyway, she was renamed to "Agent Arkansas" named after a State in the USA continent of the planet Earth, like all Freelancer Agents were. Her previous history in the UNSC as a ODST was wiped out - Zeela Neviim, simply, didn't exist anymore, not by the UNSC's records anyway. Grace later realized, she should have asked them how they did that, or why they choose her, or needed her, because Freelancer had many secrets... Many they didn't reveal...
In Freelancer, she trained, and made many friends, Agent Nevada, Agent Missouri, Agent North Carolina, Agent Washington, and many more! She made some rivals, some enemies and had her struggles. But it was mostly good, going on missions to stop the innies, or raids to bring crippling damage to their facilities or to covenant facilities. But soon the Covenant War was over, and the focus turned to the Innies.
They tried to give Agent Arkansas an AI like many other freelancers had, but the AI wasn't very compatible and the actualy installment of the AI into her armour was always delayed and never happened. She didn't mind though, she was able to do her job just as well without it. She never really dug deeper into Freelancer, she never asked questions when given a mission. And never thought to question the leadership when asked to do things... Less than with the law, assuming it was worth it to accomplish the mission.
But, as time went on, Freelancer was falling apart at the seems, Missouri, North Carolina, Nevada, Hawaii, Washington, and others had... Left? Rebeled? Gone... Rogue?
Why would they do that? Ark couldn't even imagine such a thing, were they all Innie spies? That what they had told her, but she wasn't sure she believed that. Memories of all the good times they had, the intense training, the laughs, the jokes, the missions together, fighting to survive on the battlefield where one put all their trust into their teammates. All they've been through... And they were spies?
She had a mix of anger and disbelief, The Director used that anger against her and convinced her that her friends had abandoned her. He then sent her out to go find them and recon on them, to see what they were up to...
Things didn't turn out as she or the director had hoped, you can read about it HERE (old story is old so sorry for any mistakes in it ;w; )
So long story short, Grace learned about all the evil things The Freelancer Program had done, all the experiments behind closed doors, innocent people being killed and all the dark secrets. She was able to join her friends at a hidden base later named 'The Rogue Base'. With other Freelancers who had gone rogue, working together they helped each other take down The Freelancer Program altogether. Or, so it seemed, for now.
There, during those years, she was able to spend more and more time with Agent Missouri, or Gabriel his real name. Eventually admitting her growing feelings for him, they grew close with each mission they did. A couple years later he proposed to her, and they got married, Agent Hawaii / Zireena who was Missouri's adoptive daughter also became her daughter.
When the Human-Covenant war ended, the UNSC was looking for people willing to sign up for the new Spartan IV program, Gabriel and Grace signed up together, and have been working together as Spartan IV's ever since. Fighting back the remnants of the Covenant, and the uprising of the insurrectionist. And this is where Grace remains today!
