Description My Little Dragon wanted to practice his shape shifting skills some more. What would've been better fitting than trying to become a Wolven Anthro? I promised having a look at her race mod for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion to *tiffawolf what feels like an eternity ago and finally got some time to actually do it lately. Drake loves taking care of several things at once when possible as much as I do, so this was a perfect opportunity.

It is an impressive work of high artistic quality and I can only heartily recommend it to anyone wanting to play an interesting new race in Oblivion. Turning into a full-fledged wolf at will at any time makes for a very enjoyable alternative to horse travel.

As for the unknown items Drake's wearing, that's an improvement of my Guardian Armor, or better a combination with the Silverlight Armor, Drake's personal favourite, I'm currently working on among other things. Once I got it finished up and gathered all required permissions it'll be ready for release. Expect some more images of it soon in the mean time.

looking great so far, i may get back into working on my wolvens but i cant make any promises. im still about discouraged since no matter how much i seem to study, because modding just isnt my hobby or my talent, it doesnt stick in my mind and then i forget how to do most of it. i have already forgotten how to fit clothes to them. i guess the next time i learn again, ill just simply record my actions.

I can't say that was ever the case for me. Modding always was and is much fun to me, every single aspect of it. And those skills I acquired over time, as irrelevant they might be for my studies at university or my job, are likely to never get lost anymore now. Irrelevant things always stick in my mind for eternity, while the really important things always vanish quickly. Guess I just need to reconsider what's really important to me after all?

But modding has to be fun to you, not work. If there's aspects of modding which aren't any fun to you at all, which you feel forced to be able to do, you need to have people who enjoy doing this stuff as well to help along the way. It is good to be able to do all this stuff yourself, but if it isn't any fun to you, it's bad having to force yourself to do it. I don't know how it is for you, but I know for me aspects I'm forced to do, which I'm not the least enjoying to do, I won't really put my heart's content into them, even though I try it just won't work, and then they're not on-par in quality to the rest of my work.

its exactly the way i feel, you see, i love to design and such with a race but im not a true modder at heart, i hate to say it but the reason i started modding was because no modder ever replied to my requests but you.
i couldnt find a wolf race that i had looked for, it disappointed me and bothered me and then there was the wolf elf race which i highly loved but
the modder was too selfish to explain to me how to make the race stop conflicting, after i learned so much on this problem, i found that this person was using the cosmetic mods that conflicted with alot of people because no one uses this cosmetic anymore since a few new cosmetics out shined it. it didnt take long for me to help all those who had problems with the same thing i had asked about. but after this, i just didnt enjoy there race as much as i thought i would since the joy of the race was taken after i lost respect for the modder who made them.

the reason i became a modder was because i wanted my own wolf race that fit my main idea and dream, i wanted the whole wolf design with the fur and humanoid face. with a humanoid face, they keep sex appeal and with wolf fur thay keep a wild animal like appearance that people want and whats better than getting to become a wild wolf and roam the land at any given time?
but i did all this because i was forced into it since most modders i knew or asked where more obsessed with using there talent for themselves.
so all together, i love my race, it means so much to me because i made my dream reality with alot of your help, without you i couldnt have gone the distance at all and i thank you very much for that.
in time i had wanted to create a race for a guy who wanted a lion based race like my wolvens style but because my wolvens are not yet perfected, i will continue to work with them first. and then as promised, i will work on the lion race for him.
see i want to be able to create races for those who ask me to make there race a reality, i dont want to create for myself but by myself i am useless since i only specialize in the designing of the textures and body sketch and design. thats why i need a crew. i really want to get back into my wolven anthros but right now i just cant seem to because of my depression

You will be possibly releasing new versions of your dragon mod? I am really glad that you can be active and work on these again. Did you ever fix that odd glitch where loading screens start taking forever when the dragon mod has been on for a long time? Also, will you be using some of the items from the Dragorian mod like the flight scripts, or will you be creating your own versions from scratch? I still have some items I worked a little on like the edited wings mesh that has them join the back in a more traditional way with less of it merging through clothes and such if you want to take a look at any of it. Perhaps I have already shown you or you have made your own improvements. That was so long ago.... I have been trying to relearn Blender to make my own 3d dragon models, but I seem to have forgotten most of my basic commands. I have seen your other pictures so far and it looks very interesting.
(I really need to change my avatar on this site before fall)

It will take some time, but I'm making progress. I'm expecting the next release to be possible somewhere between next year and the next few months, depends on how much work I'll have to do in the near future.

The saving and loading becoming increasingly slower the longer my mod's active is nowadays a well-known issue already and it was figured out what's causing it. I wasn't aware I had to clean up after "every" string_var I created in OBSE. I knew I had to clean up in User Functions, but the necessity to do this also everywhere else in your scripts was never mentioned in the documentation. So it's just one of the most nasty save game bloatings responsible for this, and only because it's taking place in the .obse co-saves instead of the regular saves this time does it cause such severe slowdowns after a while. An intermediate quickfix has become to simply disable my mod from time to time and do a clean save without it. But doing a clean save without the mod the race your player is using is coming from is not really one of the easiest things to do either. Nevertheless it was a fix for the time being and it was working. Whenever I'm done with my huge script overhaul required for the next release these issues will of course have been already fixed in the process. Then there will be no more save/load slowdowns increasing by time anymore.

I'm not intending to use anything from the Dragorian And Dranaugh Races mod. This mod already consists almost exclusively of my stuff, apart from some scripted features and special effects from other mods, and it turned out my resources were spread along with it whenever BlackStorm gave anybody permission for reuse of "his" assets. I'm currently on the verge of declaring my current state meshes and textures "public domain" and be done with it, because they are now used in that many mods I wasn't even aware of and there was no asking for permission (which I didn't really require either though) and no mention of my name (also not of any importance), but those authors don't credit "anybody" for these assets and thus make it appear as if they were who created them. I never asked for being credited, neither did I require being asked for permission, but I did tell them not to run around with my files and claim it's their's or I'll have to reconsider my sharing policy (last line in all my readmes)... so I guess that's the case now.

I'm the do-it-yourself type of modder, and while I use some assets from armors or clothing (I'm not that good a modeller, yet) with permission from time to time, this race and all its features will be almost 100% self-made (requests for help and cooperations excluded, of course). This is also the only way to get it exactly the way I have it in mind... and don't forget I'm not doing all the fun for a release or anything. No, I'm doing it for the sake of doing it. Creating these things myself is where the fun's coming from!

I did actually make my own redesign of the wings already, including where and how they connect to the back. But I need some more ideas to get it finalized, as every solution I come up with so far raises certain issues with their movement being hindered by the body or other bodyparts. I guess it's not easy to get anthropomorphic wings actually working like wings due to the way they need to be designed to work with an anthropomorphic anatomy. If the race was feral already, this would be a non-issue, but that's besides the point for a race for Oblivion, as it would loose far too many aspects and features only an anthropomorphic anatomy can uphold in this game.

I'm glad you like it so far and hope to make some more decent progress soon, but work's always pretty preoccupying lately and this can't be helped.

(True, it's "summer" already, but only according to the calendar. Weather itself hasn't yet decided on what time of the year it really is right now, so if you ask me, you're not the least in a hurry there!)
