Same here. Dachande has always been my favorite Yautja and Machiko is one of my fac human chars. When I heard the movie was finally going to be made, I was hoping it would be just like AVP: Prey. If they had gone that route, the AVP films would have probably done a lot better.

Yeah, I think their problem was that they wanted something closer to present times... to introduce a young Bishop, show how they all started out.
Meh, I don't know. It's still not too late to do Machiko's story, though they already fucked that up by making that mountaineer-lady a Machiko-wannabe. It would only confuse people... or maybe it would do the opposite and help them understand Machiko's concept, should that movie ever emerge. Hollywood's so lame I doubt something like that will ever be planned.

I wish they would. I heard that the actually started to once, but they decided it would cost too much money. Lex being so similar to her also made it less likely, but as you said it could make people understand her character more. Any time someone mentions they like Scar and Lex I asked them if they've ever read AVP: Prey and if they haven't I recommend it to them. Lex kinda screwed things up for Machiko in more ways than one. I collect some of those figures Sideshow makes and when I found out they were making one of Machiko I was excited, then I saw it. They based it more off Lex than Machiko. I ended up getting a customized one that looked more like she did in the beginning of AVP: Three World War. I still hate that the warrior mark is on her cheek rather than her forehead though. I've wanted to fix it, but I'm too afraid of ruining the face in the process.

Right, yeah! I saw those action figures all over various sites. One looked like Lex, and the real Machiko version was an 'anime' style, so it wasn't quite the same.
People were posting their custom work on the sites; they removed the mark and fixed her up really nicely. Added a lot of custom stuff.

I think they made a model kit of her, too, but the face on that one is really anime-like. If I knew the exact shade her skintone is, I could prolly easily fix it, I'm just afraid of messing it up. I've done a few customs with them like I repaired a busted up Wolf Pred I got cheaply and made him into my original Predator. I also made one of the hybrid in this pic. I made her from a base figure that I painted up and modified. I made all of her armor and such from some loose Predator and G.I. Joe parts I had. I have didn't modify, too. Namely the Berserker Pred from Predators (I wasn't too fond of the movie, but I kind of liked their reptilian-like appearance) and two Xenomorphs both from the first Alien though one is a lot taller than the other one. I'd actually love to try and collect all of them, but the things are outrageously priced. I only pick them up when I can win them cheaply in auctions on Ebay.

The prices are insane, yeah. Speaking of which, I knew Predators would be a disaster with Rodriguez behind it. He went a little nuts with Desperado, they guy doesn't exactly have a feel for realisms. A bunch of fully-armed people are dropped into a game preserve? Really? Some idiot from death row was a worthy trophy? None of that made sense.

True on all accounts. I also hated how Rodriguez insinuated his Predators were the real Predators and Stan Winston's Predators were beneath them. I've also heard the movie was meant to be a reboot of sorts to ignore Predator 2 and the AVP films. I'm not too bothered about AVP, but I despite Predator 2 often being called a bad movie, I liked it. When I had first heard of Predators, I thought they'd be something like the Killer Clan from Three World War. I was dead wrong. He should have at least went with his original concept that they were basically normal Predators that had altered themselves through splicing. Saying they were just a bigger species that was better than the originals was just plain disrespectful to Stan.

Disrespectful and just plain stupid, is what that was. As far as I'm concerned Rodriguez broke lore with parachutes, armed prey and that stupid game preserve. His movie was a snoozefest. The hunters have spaceships for Christ's sakes, I'd imagine that going from one place to another to do their hunting isn't exactly an inconvenience. I doubt they'd need a "preserve" to throw a bunch of idiot humans into.
Predator 2 I liked and respect it because it didn't break lore; What did we have, a main pred running around, doing some hunting... and the end shows the clan on their ship... there wasn't much to dislike about it. Nothing was overly ridiculous, it was entertaining. And it's a standalone story, you don't even need to see Pred1 to understand anything. You'd think NOT breaking lore should be a simple enough task, but Hollywood loves doing that shit.
Look at Prometheus, I can't believe what Scott did with that. All it did was leave more questions... and he even redesigned the space jockeys improperly.

Agreed on all counts. I use "super Predators" in my fics, but they're different from the ones in that movie. They're essentially just members of the Killer Clan that have mutated themselves. They're really more like the Predators in the fan film, "AVP: Seed". Another thing stupid about that movie was the fact the so-called Super Predators didn't hold a candle to either of the Predators from 1 or 2. I mean their leader would almost lost to the P1 Pred look-alike and had that one not been weakned, I'm certain he would have one (he should have won in the first place).
I like Predator 2 as well. Not sure why some people say it was a bad movie. It really defined them somewhat since it showed a little more of their society than P1 did (albeit I like P1 as well, just not Predators). There's some novels that break lore badly, too. Predator: Forever Midnight is the worst case. They completely threw the Yautja concept away and made them like worms. I'm not really to concerned about what the females look like, but I know I prefer what AVP: Prey set into place more than them being asexual creatures known as Hish.
I liked Prometheus to a degree, but I considered it more of a movie of its own rather than a prequel to Alien. As far as Space Jockey's go, I use *Rachelevans1013 's take on them (with her permission of course). She was even gracious enough to draw me one so I could color it like the character I had in mind.

Well in Zaf'el's case, she now would technically have Xeno DNA, too. She's the mate of one of *Rachelevans1013 's Xeno's named Joshua. And how she set things up in her story, after so long their mates start gaining Xeno traits such as acidic blood. They don't turn into Xeno's like Myranda or anything though.
