Happy New Year! And for my first picture of 2011, I present to you Blackjack (may as well start as I mean to go on). For the benefit of those who haven't met him before, he's one of the main characters from The Daemonslayers (the subject of my ongoing comic/writings)... he's really a black dragon, but the demon-wrought curse he is under forces him to remain in the semi-humanoid pseudoform of a dracosvulf. As such he fights for revenge and is constantly seeking a way to undo this magic. And looking at his expression here he's about to exact some angry vengeance on someone right about now!There should probably be a story behind this but I'll leave it to your imaginations to come up with your own

It is indeed. Also good for enhancing a picture (like the colour balance I got here - my original colours were lacking something) though it's dangerously easy to overdo it.

Well it all depends on what you want to draw, my frainds and familly have been making so many requests its like i don't even draw what i want any more lol.

I used to do requests.. but I ended up losing the fun in drawing (especially when some people didn't even thank me) so I don't do 'em any more XD

Exactly. And then when I got one too many requests that sounded more like demands I just thought 'screw this, I'm just drawing for myself from now on'... back then I wanted more practice on drawing different things but I didn't want it that badly XD

I'm not sure if I'll add more to this specific picture, but I'm certainly hoping to do more art of my characters than I managed last year (specifically I want to get more pages of my comic done than the meagre handful of the last 12 months!).

It's just a standalone since it doesn't really serve the main plot line. Might get mentioned in passing or something unless I think of a way to include it without it looking like it's been shoehorned in there.

I have a tendency to start drawing characters too low on the page, and when I get to their feet...BLAM. No more room lol

I have that problem too. When I took life drawing classes the instructor advised us to start off by drawing the feet first. I do try to sometimes if I remember but usually I end up starting with the head and then the inevitable happens.
