I back on to bushland where I live and there are alot of wild animals (mostly birds and possums) that come to my house for free food. This fellow is bold enough to come into the kitchen looking for a snack, and often thats the toes of anyone standing in the kitchen not looking out for possums. Several months ago there was a little possum (teenager equivilant) with one blind eye wander all the way through the house into my room, then just the other morning I was woken up by butcher birds sitting on my bookshelf singing, who had also come all through the house. They know where I sleep and know how to wake me up.
So to actually answer your question, I gave him food to keep him occupied while I got close enough, surprisingly the flash didn't bother him in the slightest.
