Description I wanted to feature the main characters of "A Tale of a Basilisk" in a sketch.

The two snakes are Soul and Luna. Soul is an enchanted viper, interpreted as a basilisk of legend. Luna is an albino viper that befriends Soul.

The "Four Flights" are the rulers of the animal kingdom in which the story takes place. For some reason, I still haven't given any of them proper names. But, to be blunt and generic, the one in the center is the Eagle, the official king of the valley, the rest are his apprentices - (from left to right) the Falcon, the Hawk, and the Raven.

The story starts out with the party at odds. Soul infringes upon the Eagle's kingdom, causing himself to unintentionally become a sworn enemy of the king. The Eagle, being zealous for his people, makes several attempts to kill Soul. In the end, truths are revealed. And though fruit of wrath is harvested for a brief time, a field of peace will be sown in its place.

All in all, this piece was inspired by this particular verse:
"When a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him." - Proverbs 16:7 KJV

I wanted "Soul Fire" to be a sort of Pilgrim's Progress with animals. I often forget the reasons I started writing it in the first place. Wanting to convey epic battles and musical pieces might keep my spirits up, but such entertainments are brief and do little to fill the gap that only God can fill. Even if I make a fully fledged animation some day, what good will it be if it does not convey the truth?

For this, my soul burns.
