I don't know how all of you are fairing from our sudden winter but in my area we got a total of about a foot of snow! The power went out for four days! (Just got a update that the power is finally back on) and how did I entertain myself? Well with my boy, Arthur of course.
Just look at those baby eyes! I always thought he looked nice with a snowy background. I think all horses look good in fact, with a white landscape accenting them. But no all winters were gorgeous for this boy. Two winters ago (I'm fairly certain) Arthur didn't look this spy and happy. No, being the accident magnet he is he had found yet another way to hurt himself. We never did find the weapon but somehow he had impaled something deep into his knee. Nothing was left in the leg, thankfully but he was peg-legging his way to the barn on that fateful day. Oi oi oi. For weeks my dad and I woke at 5am to get him his medication and then my dad would go to work and I would go to school. We we came home (around the same time too) we would go to the barn and repeat. Mind you, this winter was one of the colder winters. In the morning it was single digit temperature. COLD. I never fared well in cold weather. Still don't. But he's healed up and aside from a slight cosmetic loss of the knee, he gets along just fine. If you knew him you can still feel the spot of puncture and when you pick his foot up the clean his hoof, the knee pops! Everyday is a adventure to see what he came up with to hurt himself. Accident magnet....
So production hit a wall so I haven't been able to do anything for four days due to lack of power. But apparently my power is back on but I'll know when I get home from school today! Thanks all! I hope you're doing okay this winter!

He is a rescue horse from a local humane society. He was rescues with about 15 other horses severely neglected and starved. Arthur was apparently not in as bad of condition as the others, yet he was still almost 500lbs. underweight. Because of the lack of nutrition, his hooves were cracked and not in good shape either. So we spent a year, getting his weight back on him and getting his hooves to heal up. And good lord, did he just blow up like a balloon! I figured he'd get bigger when he gained weight, but the amount of muscle he put on makes me wonder if he's a draft cross!!
He's a good boy and wants to please but under stress he can get quite dangerous

He's HUGE lol xD for a proclaimed Quarter Horse anyway lol But I'll never know since he's not registered or anything like that. But that way he fits right in with the rest of the rescue horses we have xD

But mum being a single mum when I until i was 16 it would been to expensive
And we lived in the suburbs so no room for a horsey

I understand completely :/ I didn't know how lucky I was for the longest time. I've always owned horses, even before I was born we had horses on our farm. I always thought, if someone was riding the horse, they owned it. I go to william Woods University for a degree in Equine so I get to meet all sorts of horse people and I was talking to my classmate who had been riding probably 15 years and I almost fell out of my chair when she told me she had never owned a horse for herself. It's crazy! I hope you get to own a horse one day to call your own

It is gorgeous! You wouldn't believe the hassle I had to go through to get an idea of his "official" coat color without blood work done that is lol He finally turned out to be a Brown Based Dun Frame Overo and Sabino! xD What a mouthful!
