I was expecting that the new design was similar to the "Amazing Spider-Man" movie reboot. But instead we got the modified version of the good ol' Spider-Man suit.

Love the concept and I felt that Issue 700 was very well done. I am excited to see the directions this story goes and hopes it stays long enough to explore [REDACTED]'s take on Spider-man. Three issues in and I'm really liking it and feel that it could be a very strong series if people give it a chance and time to develop.

I have to wonder why Red/Black wasn't used for a costume variant a long time ago, since it recoloring a key competent of a costume black seems a big part of "modernizing" any classic look these days.
The raised eyes and symbol from the movie seem a natural carry over.
I wasn't sure about the opposable toes at first, but I figure if it helps artist to draw his foot like an actual foot rather than a pointed tip, more power to it. Though I don't recall seeing the claws points on the ends in any of the promo pictures. That part is a touch unsettling.

Fun fact: Black-and-Red is actually how the suit was intended to look when it was created, but back when Spidey was created, blue was easier to use for highlighting black colors, hence why the costume appeared to be Red-and-Blue.

While I give props to Dan Slott for coming up with such an overarching plot for this, tying back to earlier stories, there must have been a better, less convoluted way to get someone else under the mask.
