Description One of the first explorations of the deep Abyss wasn't the most lucky. Team of the explorers, scientists, psychologists was good at what they do, but they was locked in the small ship hovering in the most agressive environment of mind-shattering, corrupting strangeness. Safety precautions was as strict as it was ever possible for that time, but no one knew much what they're going to deal with, and technologies wasn't very good back then. After some weeks connection with ship was lost. No one know what happening with ship's team. Here's a lot of explanations of varying degrees of credibility, and even more conpirancy theories. That's one of the most well-known tragedies in the Elopse.

P.S. This creature is member of the ship's team. Their name is Ruklua, and that little sphere in their hand supposed to contain floating mini-model of their homeworld. I just didn't draw it. And yes, they wear spacesuit.

This is gorgeous! I really like the colors you used, and the angle of view that makes it feel like we're looking down from slightly above the creature.

An interesting story as well. It's hard to prepare for something you don't know about... and the cost of mistakes in this case was pretty high, apparently.

Is this an illustration of Ruklua before things went wrong, or after?

Thank you! I didn't like this work first and reworked it to make it look like this. But I can't do angles, and that effect was purely incidental X)

That story was in my head pretty long, since very begining of the high school, but setting of my world wasn't developed good back then and I couldn't explain why these people will see things or behave like madmans, but now it can fit in that world perfectly.

Yeah. I wanted make that story as realistic (we don't talk about "reality" of the setting, but I think you know what I mean) as I can understand that reality around me. I still need to understand more though to make it into proper story (I want to make a game about it, and I need good skill in storytelling if I want to make a good game... But it just a dreams). We do mistakes, and very big mistakes sometimes, and it can lead to tragedies, but time marches on, and we can learn from it, and ultimately we can make a good future by that learning and remembering (history is a good subject!) and don't do that again.

After, supposedly. They're homesick and just want to wake up from all that nightmare.

*how are you, after all? I'm soo glad to see you again!*
