Description
I'm going to be honest I'm not looking forward to the Thousand Year Door on the Switch after seeing that they were making changes to the script, one involving Vivian’s introduction.
Some may say “they are keeping it closer to the original Japanese” but they also change the cat calling Goombas. Sure, the new lines work for a paper mario game, but it seems that Gamecube translation of that moment was already accurate to the original Japanese. Therefore it becomes less of an argument about censorship and more of an argument of to much DEI in games. Which is really sad because Mario RPG on the Switch had very minimal changes.
Who knows, maybe I am overreacting and they with leave Vivian’s Gender ambiguous enough to leave it up to the player. But I will need to see a playthough of Chapter 3 and 5 before I get the game. I know the original 2004 English game had some censorship, but what I am seeing seems to be more done in the name of political correctness rather respect for the original. We will really know if DEI has taken over at the Invisible Peach mission.
So yeah my way to cope was to draw a very Feminine Vivian with child bearing hips I kept it lineless because I like how it looked I said it once I say it again Vivian will always be Cis Female to me (I hate that I have to adopt their language to make sure to make sure no one misinterprets me)
