Robert Skelton was a stable boy from the 16th century working in the stables of the Hylton Castle. Many believe his death was brought about when he was caught courting Baron Hylton's daughter. The enraged Baron impaled him with a nearby pitchfork and struck him in the back of the head with a riding crop which resulted in a fatal blow. The Baron left the boy's naked body in the barn until the rotted smell of his corpse made it's way into the castle walls, then he disposed of the remains into a nearby stream. The ghost of the stable boy now haunts the castle walls, cleaning the kitchen, emptying the chamber pots, and other chores that were left unfinished. Only few have seen him, he roams around naked, shivering, repeating the phrase, "I'm cold." while looking for a pile of hot ash or coal to lay on. Some believe if the boy was left a cloak then his spirit would be set free.
