Description Line art of a zerg hydralisk.

i got into the mood to draw a hydralisk when listening to the zerg theme from Starcraft 1, and so here it is .

i was very happy with how this picture turned out, and so i decided to put it through photoshop.

the hydralisk is basically the core unit of the zerg swarm, able to fire extremely sharp spines at high velocities. the spines it fires are packed underneath armor plates around the neck region of the hydralisk, coated in a volatile poison while also being able to penetrate several centimeters of neo steel armor plating at even its maximum range.

The spines are capable of doing this due to the fact they are fired with incredible velocity, being projected by the hydralisks muscle structure (which consists of thousands of muscles, compared to a humans few hundred) when contracted.

at this moment im editing this image in photoshop CS5, so you can expect a colored version very soon.

Starcraft and Starcraft 2, the hydralisk, zerg, and any other product related are owned by blizzard entertainment.

*update*

after close examination, and careful consideration, iv decided that im going to correct a MASSIVE error i made with this picture in the photoshoped version

the error i made was the head, i made the neck area too short.

the head is supposed to loom over the chest by a great distance, even with its back arched (which was the pose i went for), where there would be room for this very large armor plate that hangs at the base of where the cranium meets the neck. this plate would loom over the back region, like a big husk.

i new my line art was missing something, but i couldnt put my finger on it. then later, after i had already gotten like 70% of my picture done in photoshop, i notice the mistake i made.

and so i decided im going to edit my picture to include a more elongated neck, with the large plate, as well as im adding a few things to the design (armor plates, muscles, etc), probably gonna take 2 or 3 more days (i dont work on the picture for HOURS on end, otherwise i would burn myself out XD)

I see what you mean about the neck, yeaaah after doing a lot of coloring and lineart and stuff, fixing that had to hurt. I see you finished it though! *pops over to the finished product*

yeah lol.

halfway into the photoshoped version i noticed something retarded about it...the whole neck thing.

what sucked the most was that i had already done alot of work on the picture as a whole, but lucky for me parts of the body were in separate layers, so cutting the head out didnt cut too much out of the rest of the pic.

Oh good, yeah I've learned to do that too via trial and error, sooo much easier to fix things later.
