This is a very sweet photo and technically very well executed. I love how not only is the dog's face in the right spot of the photo, but the lighting directs the viewer right to it as well.

One thing I really dig about this image is how there are lots of "V" shapes that compliment each other. There are the "V"s from the chair legs that draw the viewer even further into the images and then there is the "V" of the dog's ears. All of those "V"s put the emphasis on the eyes.

In portrait work, the eyes are the most important feature in alot of shots. The focus needs to be spot on and the lighting needs to give the eyes life. Good job here. The catchlights in the dog's eyes are, in my opinion, the most wonderful thing about this image.

I honestly can't think of anything bad to say about this shot. Great black and white conversion and rockin on everything else!

A really catching photo, much like it was pointed out by *fubecando for the repeating V motif. I love the expressiveness and the softness of the puppy and how well it balances with the other sharp features, like the chair and the bright light. Beautiful job with this capture indeed!

(My Critique/Well sort of)

That ia beautiful, a masterpiece, that is to say. It makes me sad to see those colors and such sad eyes, yet it fills me with glee to see such a wounderful dog. It is a masterpiece worth the eyes of millions, and yet still must be kept secret. I hope you get the appreciation that you deserve. Please go on and bring us more wounderful masterpieces, that shall bring us joy, even after we have passed to the other side.~Tania

(Sorry I went on my poetic side on you)

Thanks for the critique, and compliment!

I wouldn't say this puppy has sad eyes. I think you're not used to blue eyes on dogs. I see them as mischievous/playful eyes, not sad. He was chewing on the foot of the chair there when I took the picture!

Blue eyes easily throw people off, since they do look differnt from brown eyes, which most people are used to on dogs.

You're welcome! They look sad to me because of the monatone colors.
