Description Madame Hydra was at one point leader of the villainous Serpent Squadron, and championed the cause of nihilism. Some say a nihilist is one who does not believe in morality, a notion many writers have played with, apparently finding it somehow intriguing. However, if you actually have a brain, and your species can distinguish between health and disease, efficiency and inefficiency, construction versus destruction, durable versus brittle, and so on, it is inevitable, as night follows day, that concepts of good and bad MUST arise. No morality could only mean zero brain function.
I hear actors say playing bad guys is fun, because you can 'do more'. I disagree. Being good, to me, means being knowledgeable and constructive. Any moron can wreck something. The good guys can build, and to me are always more fun--they are the ones who bring into existence all we enjoy about life. I do not even believe in evil anymore. To me there is just ignorance, and laziness that gives 'evil' every ounce of its life from its beginning...

Actually, from what I understand, nihilism is the belief that life has no meaning, purpose or value.

The Wikipedia article on nihilism offers many nihilism variants and nuances...Madame Hydra as written by Englehart had her own variation. It was a philosophy I never heard spouted in comics before then, so at least it was a little different...
